Joshua Hawley.\u00a0 I&#8217;m hoping that it will provide me some catharsis, because I am absolutely livid with that A-Hole.<\/p>\n<p>It all began when I came across an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/nation\/2021\/01\/05\/hawley-protest-antifa-scumbags-virginia\/\">article in the <em>Washington Post<\/em><\/a> where Hawley (turns out mendaciously) claims in a Tweet that &#8220;Antifa scumbags&#8221; came to his house in Vienna, VA to threaten his wife, screamed threats, vandalized and tried to pound open the door. \u00a0(That house in Vienna is currently the only home he has.\u00a0 He used his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kansascity.com\/news\/politics-government\/article247260219.html\">sister&#8217;s address in the Ozarks to claim Missouri residence<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s Hawley&#8217;s lying Tweet:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Tonight while I was in Missouri, Antifa scumbags came to our place in DC and threatened my wife and newborn daughter, who can\u2019t travel. They screamed threats, vandalized, and tried to pound open our door. Let me be clear: My family &amp; I will not be intimidated by leftwing violence<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Josh Hawley (@HawleyMO) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/HawleyMO\/status\/1346308783325253633?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 5, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>For those that can&#8217;t access Twitter:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Tonight while I was in Missouri, Antifa scumbags came to our place in DC and threatened my wife and newborn daughter, who can\u2019t travel. They screamed threats, vandalized, and tried to pound open our door. Let me be clear: My family &amp; I will not be intimidated by leftwing violence<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>But if you read the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/nation\/2021\/01\/05\/hawley-protest-antifa-scumbags-virginia\/\">WaPo article<\/a>, you&#8217;ll learn it was a peaceful vigil.\u00a0 In fact the group (with NO ties to Antifa) fortunately took a 50+ minute video of their visit:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Vigil For Democracy\" width=\"695\" height=\"391\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/D72ROg1ucN4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>They don&#8217;t arrive at Hawley&#8217;s house on Desale St. until around the 24:00 mark.\u00a0 As near as I can make out (the CC isn&#8217;t the best) their peaceful vigil consisted of lighting votive candles, chanting, singing, praying and leaving a copy of our Constitution on the front porch.<\/p>\n<p>Most of their peaceful vigil was monitored by the local police.\u00a0 Officer Juan Vazquez told the Associated Press that when police arrived, they found that the <strong><em>\u201cpeople were peaceful.\u00a0 Officers are only allowed to put in the report what they see,\u201d<\/em><\/strong> Vazquez told The Washington Post. <strong><em>\u201cWe can\u2019t get warrants on something we didn\u2019t see.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday when Hawley continued to say he was going to object to the Pennsylvania Electoral College vote count \u2013 even after Trumpkin rioters had stormed and vandalized our Capitol \u2013 I had enough.\u00a0 I sat down and wrote him a &#8220;sternly worded letter&#8221;.\u00a0 And I followed up on Thursday with another after Hawley was roundly rebuked for his actions \u2013 even by fellow Republicans.<\/p>\n<p>(It took a couple times to FAX the letters to his DC office because it kept getting a busy signal \u2013 but mine eventually made it through.\u00a0 And I included CCs to his Kansas City office.\u00a0 Those went through easy-peasy.)<\/p>\n<p><em>Here are my letters &#8211; the first on Wednesday evening (although I&#8217;m compressing the formatting for space considerations):<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Wednesday, January 6, 2021<\/p>\n<p>Senator Joshua David Hawley<\/p>\n<p>United States Senator for Missouri<\/p>\n<p>212 Russell Senate Office Building<\/p>\n<p>Washington, D.C. 20510<\/p>\n<p>RE: <strong>SHAME ON YOU!\u00a0 SHAME ON YOU!\u00a0 SHAME ON YOU!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sen. Joshua David Hawley:<\/p>\n<p>Unlike your recent entirely mendacious claim that:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>&#8220;<em>Antifa scumbags came to our place in DC and threatened my wife and newborn daughter, who can\u2019t travel.\u00a0 They screamed threats, vandalized, and tried to pound open our door.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Let me be clear: My family &amp; I will not be intimidated by leftwing violence&#8221; \u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Today your compatriots \u2013 Proud Boys, White Supremacists, Boogaloo Bois, Neo-Nazis and other radical right-wing terrorists \u2013 actually did commit violence against the People&#8217;s House \u2013 our nation&#8217;s Capitol.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, as former FBI Director James Comey said: <em>&#8220;Lordy, I hope there are tapes&#8221;<\/em> \u2013 there ARE tapes documenting the peaceful vigil at your Vienna, VA home.\u00a0 The peaceful vigil consisted of a small group who lit votive candles, sang songs, chanted, prayed and left a copy of our Constitution on your doorstep.\u00a0 All actions protected by our First Amendment rights!<\/p>\n<p>Unlike your Proud Boys, White Supremacists, Boogaloo Bois, Neo-Nazis and other radical right-wing terrorist cohorts who quite literally, to use your very own words: \u00a0&#8220;<em>Screamed threats, vandalized, and tried to pound open the door&#8221; <\/em>of our nation&#8217;s Capitol.<\/p>\n<p>To use your very own words again: Let me be clear, true American Patriots will NOT be intimidated by right-wing violence.<\/p>\n<p>This sad and frightening display of Trumpkin scumbags was the product of Trump&#8217;s four-years of hate-mongering efforts to create chaos, divide our nation and incite violence.\u00a0 (Again, let me be clear: <em>LORDY, THERE ARE PLENTY of TAPES DOCUMENTING Trump DOING JUST THAT!<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p>And yet you, in hopes of hitching your wagon to these Trumpkin scumbags in an effort to promote your own hope of launching a presidential bid, have openly announced your intention to contest the results of our free, fair, secure election administered according to the United States Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>Given that there was no irregularity or evidence of election fraud that would justify such an action, it becomes clear that you are simply pandering to the republican party\u2019s right-wing base, which has obviously lost touch with reality and fealty to our Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>Your engagement in the attempted literal subversion of our democracy \u2013 whether called sedition, coup, anti-democratic putsch or something else \u2013 simply because you did not like the results clearly violates your oath of office.\u00a0 You should, at the minimum, face ethics charges and expulsion.<\/p>\n<p>Our national elections of 2020 have occurred.\u00a0 The people have spoken.\u00a0 Multiple recounts and audits of recounts have been conducted.\u00a0 Legal challenges have been addressed by the courts.\u00a0 Trump <em>et al<\/em> have lost at least 60 of those lawsuits.\u00a0 And in those legal challenges over 90 judges \u2013 appointed by both Democrats and republicans \u2013 have ruled against Trump&#8217;s unfounded lawsuits. \u00a0Governors have certified the results.\u00a0 And the Electoral College has voted.<\/p>\n<p>The time for questioning the results has passed; the time for the formal counting of the Electoral College votes, as prescribed in the Constitution and statute, has arrived.<\/p>\n<p>It was a free, fair, secure election administered according to the United States Constitution.\u00a0 It&#8217;s well past time for you to do your constitutional duty and standdown.<\/p>\n<p>In Deep Sorrow for Our Country, Aided &amp; Abetted by Your Shameful Actions,<\/p>\n<p>[Real Name]<\/p>\n<p>Actual Missouri Citizen<\/p>\n<p>PS: If you wonder why my salutation is not formatted, as I usually do for other Senators, as:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;The Honorable \u2026&#8221; <\/em><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s simply because I find <strong><u>NONE<\/u><\/strong> of your actions in this matter to be <em>&#8220;Honorable&#8221;<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Here&#8217;s my second letter sent on Thursday after Hawley is widely chastised for his actions:<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Thursday, January 7, 2021<\/p>\n<p>Senator Joshua David Hawley<\/p>\n<p>United States Senator for Missouri<\/p>\n<p>212 Russell Senate Office Building<\/p>\n<p>Washington, D.C. 20510<\/p>\n<p>RE: Your Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad, Rotten Day<\/p>\n<p>Sen.
