Harry Reid\u2019s (D-NV) decision to replace the so-called Botox-tax in the Senate health care bill with a<\/font> <a href=\"http:\/\/wonkroom.thinkprogress.org\/2009\/12\/19\/cbo-managers\/\" target=\"_blank\">10 percent levy on indoor tanning salons<\/a> <font color=\"#000000\">has sparked quite the outrage. Republican lawmakers, appalled at the idea of using spray tans to maintain those artificial orange glows for the C-SPAN cameras, stumbled and stuttered their way through <strong>an incoherent critique of the tax<\/strong>, demanding that Democrats \u201cexplain\u201d the new fee and joking that that the government could tax \u201canyone who goes to the beach\u201d or doesn\u2019t wear sunscreen that blocks \u201ceverything that the sun might produce.\u201d\u2026<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\">&#8230;In part, Republicans are just playing dumb. Over the summer, the International Agency for Research on Cancer \u201craised their warning of tanning beds from \u2018probably carcinogenic to humans\u2019<\/font> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.livescience.com\/health\/etc\/090729-confirmed-tanning-beds-cause-cancer.html\" target=\"_blank\">to \u2018carcinogenic to humans,\u2019<\/a><font color=\"#000000\">\u201d concluding that \u201c<strong>the ultraviolet light used in tanning beds (as with the sun\u2019s rays) has been shown to raise the risk of skin cancer<\/strong>.\u201d\u2026 [<em>emphasis added<\/em>]<\/font><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Inserted from &lt;<a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/2009\/12\/23\/republicans-tanning\/\" target=\"_blank\">Think Progress<\/a>&gt;<\/p>\n<p>I call this the Boner Provision, because Rep.
