All were telling the same story.&#160; In Wisconsin, the unions, who don\u2019t want to lose money and benefits, are protesting and the Governor, who wants to balance the budget, are resisting.&#160; That is NOT true.&#160; Wisconsin is NOT about the budget.&#160; The governor is a Koch funded puppet following the Republican playbook to create the deficit himself and use it as an excuse to break the unions right to organize and bargain&#160; collectively, so&#160; that they will not have the financial means to oppose the US Chamber, the Koch brothers, etc. in future elections.&#160; Even the counter protests in support of the government are astro-turfed events, funded by the Koch brothers.&#160; When the unions offered to concede all Governor Walker\u2019s financial cuts, if they could keep their right to collective bargaining.&#160; If this were about the budget, Walker could have ended the standoff right there with a big win, but he said no, because the budget is just an excuse, not a reason.&#160; Check it out.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"19WiscProtest\" border=\"0\" alt=\"19WiscProtest\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/19WiscProtest.jpg\" width=\"454\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The fight over a bill to slash collective bargaining for Wisconsin\u2019s public workers came to a standstill on Friday, as Democratic state senators refused to appear at the Capitol, members of the State Assembly delayed a vote until next week and thousands of protesters, their numbers still growing, marched, screamed, sang and sat. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Will the governor&#8217;s war on public employees&#8217; collective bargaining rights sweep the nation<\/strong>?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re waiting until we can find a way to take these draconian measures off the table,\u201d Chris Larson, one of 14 Democratic senators who left Wisconsin to prevent a vote from taking place, said in a telephone interview. So far, Mr. Larson said, there had been conversations between Republican lawmakers, who control both chambers of the State Legislature, and Democrats \u2014 but no compromise. <\/p>\n<p>Gov. Scott Walker is facing a growing backlash over his attempt to cut pay and <strong>eliminate collective bargaining rights for public employees<\/strong> in his state. Although Walker is claiming his power grab is an attempt to close a budget gap, <font color=\"#ff0000\"><strong>the budget \u201ccrisis\u201d was engineered by Walker as soon as he got into office<\/strong><\/font>. As Brian Beutler <a style=\"text-align: left\" href=\"http:\/\/tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com\/2011\/02\/wisconsin-gov-walker-ginned-up-budget-shortfall-to-undercut-worker-rights.php\" target=\"_blank\"><font color=\"#0066cc\">reported<\/font><\/a>, half of <strong>the budget shortfall comes from Walker\u2019s own tax cuts for businesses and other business giveaways enacted in January<\/strong>. <\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">A number of the big business interests standing with Walker are beneficiaries of his administration\u2019s tax giveaways. <strong>But the greatest ally to Walker is the dirty energy company Koch Industries<\/strong>. In response to the growing protests in Madison, <strong><font color=\"#ff0000\">Koch fronts are busing in Tea Party protesters to support Walker and his union-busting campaign<\/font><\/strong>. Last night, MSNBC\u2019s Ed Schultz reported on the involvement of Club for Growth and the Koch-financed Americans for Prosperity [fascists delinked] in the pro-Walker protest scheduled tomorrow. Watch it:<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">&#160;<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" height=\"510\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/HXdBEXls1GU?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"640\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe> <\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Koch Industries is a <a style=\"text-align: left\" href=\"http:\/\/www.alternet.org\/newsandviews\/article\/478409\/lawmakers_flee_wisconsin_capitol,_state_police_pursue;_protests_swell_to_30,000\/\" target=\"_blank\"><font color=\"#0066cc\">major player<\/font><\/a> in Wisconsin: Koch owns a coal company subsidiary with facilities in Green Bay, Manitowoc, Ashland and Sheboygan; six timber plants throughout the state; and a large network of pipelines in Wisconsin. While Koch controls much of the infrastructure in the state, they have laid off workers to boost profits. <strong>At a time when Koch Industries owners David and Charles Koch awarded themselves an extra $11 billion of income from the company, Koch slashed jobs<\/strong> [Faux Noise delinked] at their Green Bay plant:<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Officials at Georgia-Pacific said the company is <span style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>laying off 158 workers<\/strong><\/span> at its Day Street plant because out-of-date equipment at the facility is being replaced with newer, more-efficient equipment. The company said much of the new, papermaking equipment will be automated. [&#8230;] <span style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>Malach tells FOX 11 that the layoffs are not because of a drop in demand.<\/strong><\/span> In fact, Malach said demand is high for the bath tissue and napkins manufactured at the plant.<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><strong>Koch Industries was one of the biggest contributors to Walker\u2019s gubernatorial campaign<\/strong>, funneling <a style=\"text-align: left\" href=\"http:\/\/www.followthemoney.org\/database\/StateGlance\/candidate.phtml?c=116585\" target=\"_blank\"><font color=\"#0066cc\">$43,000<\/font><\/a> over the course of last year. In return, <strong><font color=\"#ff0000\">Koch front groups are closely guiding the Walker agenda<\/font><\/strong>. The American Legislative Exchange Council, another Koch-funded group, <a style=\"text-align: left\" href=\"http:\/\/news.firedoglake.com\/2011\/02\/17\/senate-dems-in-wisconsin-leave-state-hunker-down-for-protracted-battle\/\" target=\"_blank\"><font color=\"#0066cc\">advised<\/font><\/a> Walker and the GOP legislature on its anti-labor legislation and its first corporate tax cuts. <\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">According to the EPA, Koch businesses are <a style=\"text-align: left\" href=\"http:\/\/www.epa-echo.gov\/cgi-bin\/get1cReport.cgi?tool=echo&amp;IDNumber=110005442459\" target=\"_blank\"><font color=\"#0066cc\">huge polluters<\/font><\/a>, <a style=\"text-align: left\" href=\"http:\/\/www.epa-echo.gov\/cgi-bin\/get1cReport.cgi?tool=echo&amp;IDNumber=110013863275\" target=\"_blank\"><font color=\"#0066cc\">emitting<\/font><\/a> thousands of pounds of toxic pollutants. As soon as he got into <a style=\"text-align: left\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailypage.com\/daily\/article.php?article=31871\" target=\"_blank\"><font color=\"#0066cc\">office<\/font><\/a> Walker started cutting environmental regulations and appointed a Republican known for her disregard for environmental regulations to lead the Department of Natural Resources.
