Yet another Republican is involved in a sex scandal.  That\u2019s barely news.  What is news is that Christopher Lee (R-NY) actually resigned.  There were no excuses about having a wide stance or running off to C Street House for pseudo-Christian help in covering it up.  Once it was clear that he was busted, he apologized and left.  That\u2019s most un-Republican!  Had he not quit, I would not be calling for his ouster, because there is something else unusual about this Republican.  He has not jumped on the Republican bandwagon of demanding that everyone else follow the extreme dogma of religious right pseudo-Christianity.  Therefore he does not share the hypocrisy that is a badge of dishonor for the party as a whole.  What he did was wrong, but righting that wrong is a matter between him and his family.<\/font><\/p>\n

\"10Chris_Lee\"Representative Christopher Lee of New York abruptly resigned on Wednesday night after a shirtless photo of himself, which he had e-mailed to a woman, was published on the Internet. <\/p>\n

Mr. Lee, a two-term Republican from western New York, notified the House speaker, John A. Boehner, of his decision in a letter on Wednesday afternoon, after the scandal had erupted, according to senior Congressional officials. <\/p>\n

Mr. Lee\u2019s office released a statement in which he asked for forgiveness. \u201cI regret the harm that my actions have caused my family, my staff and my constituents<\/strong>,\u201d he wrote. \u201cI deeply and sincerely apologize to them all. I have made profound mistakes and I promise to work as hard as I can to seek their forgiveness<\/strong>.\u201d <\/p>\n

The resignation came hours after Gawker, a gossip Web site, published an e-mail exchange that Mr. Lee, who is married and has a son, had with a 34-year-old Maryland woman he had met through Craigslist<\/strong>.  [emphasis added<\/em>]<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
