{"id":40129,"date":"2020-06-12T15:16:02","date_gmt":"2020-06-12T22:16:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=40129"},"modified":"2020-06-12T15:16:02","modified_gmt":"2020-06-12T22:16:02","slug":"friday-good-news-we-can-all-enjoy-rnc-approves-best-gop-platform-evah","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2020\/06\/12\/friday-good-news-we-can-all-enjoy-rnc-approves-best-gop-platform-evah\/","title":{"rendered":"Friday Good News We Can All Enjoy: RNC Approves Best GOP Platform EVAH!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today&#8217;s article will be different than the usual <em>&#8220;Friday Fun&#8221;<\/em> because of a major snafu on the part of the GOP.\u00a0 Rather than actually do the hard work of sitting down and drafting a new Platform for 2020 \u2013 they decided to just recycle the old 2016 one.\u00a0 And it&#8217;s the most truthful thing the Repubicans have ever published!<\/p>\n<p>Because of the kerfuffle over Trump demanding to relish the adulation and genuflection of his mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging Trumpkins at a GOP <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">coronation<\/span> convention, combined with his being immune to Gov. Roy Cooper&#8217;s (D-NC) common sense efforts to try to explain to him that there <strong>IS STILL AN ON-GOING PANDEMIC<\/strong>, Trump demanded the convention be moved from Charlotte to Jacksonville.<\/p>\n<p>In light of this fiasco and logistical nightmare, the RNC&#8217;s Executive Committee decided to cut corners and simply voted to keep the <em>2016 Platform<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, a GOP Platform Committee spokesperson, Melody Potter, told the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/06\/11\/us\/politics\/republican-platform.html\"><em>NY Times<\/em><\/a> it&#8217;s <strong><em>&#8220;the best one we&#8217;ve had in 40 years, so I&#8217;m fine with renewing it and extending it to 2024.\u00a0 As a matter of fact, and you can quote me on this, I think it is a ray of sunshine in this whole messy storm.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Well, Melody is obviously not up to speed on what&#8217;s actually <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><strong>in<\/strong><\/em><\/span> the 2016 Platform \u2026<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><em>&#8220;because there are more than three dozen unflattering references to either the \u201ccurrent president,\u201d \u201ccurrent chief executive,\u201d \u201ccurrent administration,\u201d people \u201ccurrently in control\u201d of policy, or the \u201ccurrent occupant\u201d of the White House that appear in the Republican platform.<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So let&#8217;s enjoy a few of these gems describing what a <em><strong>disastrous<\/strong><\/em> president Trump truly has been.\u00a0 In fact, in the Comments I hope you&#8217;ll select and share with us what you think the best paragraph is:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><em>[1]<\/em><\/strong> \u201cThe huge increase in the national debt demanded by and incurred during the current Administration has placed a significant burden on future generations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>[2]<\/em><\/strong> \u201cThe current Administration has exceeded its constitutional authority, brazenly and flagrantly violated the separation of powers, sought to divide America into groups and turn citizen against citizen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>[3]<\/em><\/strong> \u201cThe next president must restore the public\u2019s trust in law enforcement and civil order by first adhering to the rule of law himself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>[4]<\/em><\/strong> \u201cThe current Administration has abandoned America\u2019s friends and rewarded its enemies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>[5]<\/em><\/strong> \u201cThe President has refused to defend or enforce laws he does not like, used executive orders to enact national policies in areas constitutionally reserved solely to Congress, made unconstitutional \u2018recess\u2019 appointments to Senate-confirmed positions, directed regulatory agencies to overstep their statutory authority, and failed to consult Congress regarding military action overseas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>[6]<\/em><\/strong> \u201cWe further affirm that courts should interpret laws as written by Congress rather than allowing executive agencies to rewrite those laws to suit administration priorities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>[7]<\/em><\/strong> \u201cThe survival of the internet as we know it is at risk.
