It also does a pretty good, albeit quick, job of explaining how in the hell we got into this mess. (It&#8217;s cool because it&#8217;s narrated by Ron Howard, and starts out sounding a lot like Arrested Development.)<\/p>\n<p>&#160;<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" height=\"390\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1V0Ax9OIc84?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"640\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe> <\/p>\n<p>Looking at this site and reading the CFPB&#8217;s mission&#8211;&quot;to work on behalf of American families&quot;&#8211;it&#8217;s hard to believe any elected official can continue to oppose what Warren and her team are trying to do. <strong>You might say it&#8217;s downright un-American to oppose giving citizens the opportunity to make smart financial decisions that will make their lives better. But with a Republican party that&#8217;s a wholly owned subsidiary of Koch Industries, Fox News, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce (and too many Democrats who also give their primary allegiance to Wall Street), I guess the idea of working on behalf of American families is quaint<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>But that opposition also poses a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2011\/01\/19\/obama-consumer-agency-may_n_811330.html\" target=\"_blank\">looming problem for the CFPB<\/a>&#8211;it has to have a permanent director\u2026 [<em>emphasis added<\/em>]<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Inserted from &lt;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailykos.com\/storyonly\/2011\/2\/3\/941042\/-Consumer-Financial-Protection-Bureau-open-for-business\" target=\"_blank\">Daily Kos<\/a>&gt;<\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Of course my choice is Elizabeth Warren.&#160; A floor fight over her confirmation could only work to underline Republican disregard for Main Street Americans.<\/font><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have long awaited the first stirrings of life from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the single achievement, in my view, that made Dodd-Frank worth passing.&#160; I bet you can guess my choice for its permanent head.
