Biden Jr. easily defeated Senator Bernie Sanders in three major primaries on Tuesday, all but extinguishing Mr. Sanders\u2019s chances for a comeback, as anxious Americans turned out to vote amid a series of cascading disruptions from the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Biden, the former vice president, won by wide margins in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2020\/03\/17\/us\/elections\/results-florida-president-democrat-primary-election.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Florida<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2020\/03\/17\/us\/elections\/results-illinois-president-democrat-primary-election.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Illinois<\/a> and also carried <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2020\/03\/17\/us\/elections\/results-arizona-president-democrat-primary-election.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Arizona<\/a>, sweeping the night and achieving a nearly insurmountable <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2020\/us\/elections\/delegate-count-primary-results.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">delegate lead<\/a>.
