{"id":3927,"date":"2011-01-25T09:32:35","date_gmt":"2011-01-25T17:32:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=3927"},"modified":"2011-01-25T10:23:22","modified_gmt":"2011-01-25T18:23:22","slug":"rahmbo-ballot-booted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2011\/01\/25\/rahmbo-ballot-booted\/","title":{"rendered":"Rahmbo Ballot Booted?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Few Democrats did more to undercut progressives in the Obama Administration that Rahm Emmanuel, a business as usual machine politician and DINO extraordinaire.\u00a0 Damage done, he left to become Mayor of Chicago, but the court have ruled that he does not meet that residency requirements.\u00a0 He has appealed to the Illinois Supreme Court, but there is no word as yet.\u00a0 I\u2019ll do a last minute check right before posting this.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/25Rhambo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: left; padding-top: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"25Rhambo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/25Rhambo_thumb.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"25Rhambo\" width=\"350\" height=\"237\" align=\"left\" \/><\/a>An Illinois appellate court ruled Monday that <strong>Rahm Emanuel cannot run for mayor of Chicago<\/strong>, a decision that shocked the city&#8217;s political establishment and triggered a rapid appeal from the former White House chief of staff to the state Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p>Since returning from Washington, Emanuel (D) had not lived in his North Side home long enough to meet Chicago&#8217;s one-year residency requirement to run for mayor, a divided three-judge panel ruled.<\/p>\n<p>The decision, which followed months of unsuccessful attempts to challenge Emanuel&#8217;s residency claim, came only days before the city starts early voting.<\/p>\n<p>And <strong>regardless of the outcome of Emanuel&#8217;s appeal, the ruling threatened to strip his name from the ballot &#8211; potentially putting him at a severe disadvantage in the Feb. 22 election.
