{"id":38916,"date":"2020-02-07T10:44:32","date_gmt":"2020-02-07T18:44:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=38916"},"modified":"2020-02-07T10:44:32","modified_gmt":"2020-02-07T18:44:32","slug":"trump-at-the-national-prayer-breakfast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2020\/02\/07\/trump-at-the-national-prayer-breakfast\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump* at the National Prayer Breakfast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">A Dominionist cult, commonly known as \u2018the family\u2019 holds a supposedly non-partisan annual religious event called the National Prayer Breakfast.&nbsp; Presidents (and Residents) of the United States routinely attend.&nbsp; It\u2019s normally pretty low key, as the family uses it to present themselves as mainstream and cover up who they really are and what they really do.&nbsp; But someone forgot to tell that to the criminal Fuhrer Trump*.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"750\" height=\"422\" title=\"0207TrumpSatan\" style=\"margin-right: auto; margin-left: auto; float: none; display: block; background-image: none;\" alt=\"0207TrumpSatan\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/0207TrumpSatan.jpg\" border=\"0\"><\/p>\n<p>At the 68th, and perhaps last, National Prayer Breakfast, the main remarks were made by the former president of the American Enterprise Institute (and Post columnist) Arthur C. Brooks, who spoke on the themes of his wonderful 2019 book \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Love-Your-Enemies-America-Contempt\/dp\/1982608803\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Love Your Enemies<\/a>.\u201d President Trump then prefaced his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=bs6uFVNexHE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">speech<\/a> by saying: \u201cArthur, I don\u2019t know if I agree with you. But I don\u2019t know if Arthur\u2019s going to like what I\u2019m going to say.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It was a strange moment in U.S. religious history. The command to love your enemies, of course, came from Jesus in the <a href=\"https:\/\/biblehub.com\/kjv\/matthew\/5-44.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sermon on the Mount<\/a>. \u201cLove your enemies, bless those that curse you, do good to them that hate you.\u201d It might be expected for a president to express how difficult obeying such a mandate can be. Trump decided to dispute the command itself. And some in the crowd laughed.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefings-statements\/remarks-president-trump-68th-annual-national-prayer-breakfast\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Trump\u2019s sermon at the Hilton<\/a> was, in fact, to put his enemies on notice. Those who pursued impeachment were \u201cvery dishonest and corrupt people.\u201d \u201cThey know what they are doing is wrong,\u201d he continued, \u201cbut they put themselves far ahead of our great country.\u201d Congressional Republicans, in contrast, had the wisdom and strength \u201cto do what everyone knows was right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Trump proceeded to make a thinly veiled attack against Mitt Romney of Utah, the only Republican senator to vote for the president\u2019s removal: \u201cI don\u2019t like people who use their faith as justification for doing what they know is wrong.\u201d And then a shot at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.): \u201cNor do I like people who say, \u2018I\u2019ll pray for you,\u2019 when I know that is not so.\u201d<\/strong>\u2026 [<em>emphasis added<\/em>]<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Inserted from &lt;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/trumps-politicization-of-the-national-prayer-breakfast-is-unholy-and-immoral\/2020\/02\/06\/529518e4-4931-11ea-bdbf-1dfb23249293_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Washington Post<\/a>&gt;<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Of course, every insult Trump* hurled at Democrats was a projection of what he and his Republicans Reich routinely do.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=_QcmgLkhI1w\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Trump waves &#8216;acquitted&#8217; headline, takes shot at Mitt Romney in speech<\/a><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/_QcmgLkhI1w\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\"><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Portman has his head up Trump&#8217;s* ass. The NPV is sponsored by the Fellowship Foundation, aka &#8216;the family&#8217;. A Dominionist cult, they believe that they need to take over government to make the earth fit to receive Republican Supply-side Jesus on his return. Their vehicle they use to achieve this end is the Republican Reich. They are NOT Christians.
