If there was ever any doubt that Faux Noise is the GOP Reichsministry of Propaganda, this should settle it.<\/p>\n

\"Fox-sheep\"<\/a> Back in July, when a scheduled increase in the minimum wage from $6.55 to $7.25 per hour was about to take place, Fox News ran a segment examining how \u201cthe hike will hurt,\u201d joining a media chorus about the supposed detrimental effect the increase would have on business hiring.<\/font><\/p>\n

Now, with its Republican-inspired \u201cWhere are the jobs?\u201d campaign in full swing, Fox has gone \u201con the job hunt\u201d with a \u201cnew\u201d idea for increasing employment: cutting the minimum wage. Jumping off<\/font> from an op-ed<\/a> by Washington Post editorial board member Charles Lane, Fox yesterday ran a handful of segments on the same basic premise \u2014 cutting the minimum wage may be the answer to the jobs dilemma. Fox\u2019s anchors seemed very pleased to have stumbled onto this line of thought. Of course, none of the anchors mention that almost<\/font> all of<\/a> the economic<\/a> research<\/a> on the subject shows that the minimum wage has<\/font> little to no effect<\/a> [pdf] on employment. The most well-known researchers on the subject \u2014 David Card and Alan Krueger \u2014 examined a minimum wage increase in New Jersey, and found that \u201cemployment<\/font> actually expanded<\/a> in New Jersey relative to Pennsylvania, where the minimum wage was constant.\u201d…<\/font><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
