<strong>RESIST<\/strong>!!<\/font>  <\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">From <a href=\"https:\/\/www.exposedbycmd.org\/2019\/08\/23\/convention-states-fires-up-base-for-push-to-rewrite-u-s-constitution\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Exposed by CMD<\/a>: <\/font>Convention of States Action (COS) kicked off its first \u201cLeadership Summit\u201d [<em>Republican fascists delinked<\/em>] in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia today. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sourcewatch.org\/index.php?title=Convention_of_States_Action\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">COS<\/a>, a project of Mark Meckler and Eric O\u2019Keefe\u2019s Citizens for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sourcewatch.org\/index.php?title=Citizens_for_Self-Governance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Self-Governance<\/a>, claims that \u201chundreds\u201d of activists, state directors, and coordinators from all 50 states will attend to get inspired and learn strategies for passing COS resolutions in the states calling for a constitutional convention to rewrite the U.S. Constitution.  <\/p>\n<p>Fifteen states have passed the group\u2019s applications so far, with 17 more states considering the resolution this year, according to COS. Wisconsin recently introduced a COS <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.legis.wisconsin.gov\/2019\/related\/proposals\/ajr77\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">resolution<\/a>, which would bump the number up to 18.  <\/p>\n<p>A constitutional convention has never been held since the Constitution was adopted, and COS will need 34 states to file applications in order for it to occur. If that happens, COS plans to move an array of sweeping amendments to redefine key parts of the Constitution and radically weaken the federal government.  <\/p>\n<p>COS has ties to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alecexposed.org\/wiki\/ALEC_Exposed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">American Legislative Exchange Council<\/a> (ALEC), the National Rifle Association, the right-wing militia group Three Percenters, and the Christian nationalist group <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sourcewatch.org\/index.php\/WallBuilders\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">WallBuilders<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p>More than 200 civil rights and public interest groups, including the Center for Media and Democracy (CMD), signed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commoncause.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/ConCon-Opposition-Letter-Feb-2018.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">letter<\/a> last year denouncing such constitutional convention calls as \u201ca threat to every American\u2019s constitutional rights and civil liberties.\u201d  <\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Click through for a speakers list and more.
