{"id":3503,"date":"2010-12-01T01:43:20","date_gmt":"2010-12-01T09:43:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=3503"},"modified":"2010-12-01T01:43:20","modified_gmt":"2010-12-01T09:43:20","slug":"the-easter-bunny-santa-claus-and-bipartisanship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2010\/12\/01\/the-easter-bunny-santa-claus-and-bipartisanship\/","title":{"rendered":"The Easter Bunny, Santa Claus and Bipartisanship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">The Easter Bunny myth was the first to go.&#160; I found the baskets, the plastic grass, and the bags of candy in the hall closet.&#160; When my parents mentioned the bunny on Easter morning I called them on it.&#160; I didn\u2019t care as long as I got to pig out on candy.&#160; Santa Claus was a more severe loss, because I faced ridicule, when schoolmates told me it was really my parents.&#160; But like all children, I survived the demise of these childhood myths.&#160; I have no doubt that like me, President Barack Obama no longer believe in either the Easter Bunny or Santa Claus, but on another childhood myth, he just doesn\u2019t seem to get it.&#160; Mr. President, there is no such thing as bipartisanship!<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 5px 10px 0px 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: left; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"1Obama\" border=\"0\" alt=\"1Obama\" align=\"left\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/1Obama.jpg\" width=\"350\" height=\"234\" \/>President Obama and congressional Republicans expressed determination Tuesday to reach an agreement on the tax cuts due to expire at year&#8217;s end, raising the <strong>possibility of a compromise<\/strong> that could avert a tax increase for virtually every American worker. <\/p>\n<p>The comments came after a much-anticipated meeting at the White House between Obama and GOP leaders, their first face-to-face encounter since Democrats suffered heavy losses on Election Day. No formal agreement was made, but the meeting marked a sharp departure from the practice of the past two years, when Obama dealt almost exclusively with Democrats &#8211; in part because Republicans were content to try to block his every move\u2026 [<em>emphasis added<\/em>]<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Inserted from &lt;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2010\/11\/30\/AR2010113003494.html\" target=\"_blank\">Washington Post<\/a>&gt;<\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">What more does he need to realize that the only compromise possible with today\u2019s Republicans is total capitulation.&#160;
