{"id":3481,"date":"2010-11-29T00:56:46","date_gmt":"2010-11-29T08:56:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=3481"},"modified":"2010-11-29T00:56:46","modified_gmt":"2010-11-29T08:56:46","slug":"republican-economic-theology","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2010\/11\/29\/republican-economic-theology\/","title":{"rendered":"Republican Economic Theology"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Move over, Holy Spirit.&#160; Your place in the Holy Trinity is about to be supplanted by a stronger article of faith in Republican Theology: the worship of the Holy Tax Cut, as inspired by Saint Ronnie.&#160; But would Reagan approve this?<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\"><\/font><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto\" title=\"29taxcuts-cost\" alt=\"29taxcuts-cost\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/29taxcuts-cost.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"413\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As Congress prepares to take up extension of the Bush tax cuts during its lame duck session, Republican lawmakers have been unanimous in demanding that the cuts for the richest two percent of Americans be extended, claiming they are necessary for economic growth and that tax cuts (<strong>miraculously<\/strong>) <a href=\"http:\/\/tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com\/2010\/07\/its-unanimous-gop-says-pay-for-unemployment-benefits-not-tax-cuts-for-the-rich.php\" target=\"_blank\">pay for themselves<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While independent economists have shown these arguments <a href=\"http:\/\/modeledbehavior.com\/2010\/07\/13\/ezra-klein-is-dismayed-that-some-people-think-the-bush-tax-cuts-raised-revenue\/\" target=\"_blank\">to be false<\/a>, today on CNN\u2019s Fareed Zakaria GPS, <strong>President Reagan\u2019s former budget director took on his own party for pushing this faulty logic<\/strong>.
