Rick Scott\u2019s campaign filed a handful of lawsuits seeking to give law enforcement custody of election equipment and prevent certain ballots from being included in official results<\/p>\n<p>A recount began Saturday in the U.S. Senate race between Scott, a Republican, and Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson. Scott narrowly leads Nelson by about 0.15 percentage points, well within the state\u2019s 0.25 percent threshold for a manual recount\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2026In a <a href=\"https:\/\/rickscottforflorida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Complaint_A.pdf?utm_source=Iterable&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=Press_Outreach\" target=\"_blank\">separate suit<\/a> against Snipes, Scott\u2019s campaign asked a judge to block Broward County from counting any of the ballots it didn\u2019t include in the unofficial results it submitted to the Florida Department of State by noon Saturday, a deadline set by state law. That request, if granted, could mean some <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Dan_F_Jacobson\/status\/1061743836257574912\" target=\"_blank\">valid ballots would not be counted<\/a>. Florida accepts vote-by-mail ballots <a href=\"https:\/\/dos.myflorida.com\/elections\/for-voters\/voting\/vote-by-mail\/\" target=\"_blank\">until 7 p.m. on Election Day<\/a> and the county may not have them all counted by Saturday\u2019s deadline.<\/p>\n<p>The populous and heavily Democratic Broward County <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motherjones.com\/politics\/2018\/11\/democrat-bill-nelsons-longshot-strategy-for-winning-florida\/\" target=\"_blank\">is a key area<\/a> for Nelson if he is to overcome Scott\u2019s lead. In a Sunday statement, Nelson\u2019s campaign accused Scott of trying to stop valid votes from being counted.<\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Isn&#8217;t the prevention of valid votes what Republicans always do? <strong>RESIST<\/strong>!!<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">From <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2018\/11\/11\/us\/politics\/matthew-whitaker-russia-mueller-democrats.html\" target=\"_blank\">NY Times<\/a>: <\/font>Top congressional Democrats demanded on Sunday that President Trump\u2019s acting attorney general, Matthew Whitaker, recuse himself from overseeing the special counsel investigation, and vowed to use their newfound powers as the incoming House majority to block him from interfering with it.<\/p>\n<p>The incoming chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Representative Jerrold Nadler of New York, vowed to make Mr. Whitaker the panel\u2019s first witness when the new Congress convenes in January \u2014 and subpoena him if necessary. The incoming chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Representative Adam B. Schiff of California, said Democrats would investigate Mr. Whitaker, a Trump loyalist who has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2018\/11\/07\/us\/politics\/whitaker-mueller-trump.html?module=inline\" target=\"_blank\">repeatedly and explicitly criticized the investigation<\/a> into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential race.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe questions we will ask him will be about his expressed hostility to the investigation, and how he can possibly supervise it when he\u2019s expressed, when he\u2019s come out and said the investigation is invalid,\u201d Mr. Nadler <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/videos\/politics\/2018\/11\/11\/sotu-nadler-whitaker.cnn\" target=\"_blank\">said on CNN\u2019s \u201cState of the Union.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">I like this.
