If he seeks the presidential nomination once again, Romney, who had to deflect paranoia about his LDS faith in his 2008 presidential bid, might not want the showcase convention in the same city that is home to the world headquarters of the LDS Church… [emphasis added]

Inserted from <Salt Lake Tribune>

Back when I lived in Phoenix, Arizona. I had a very close personal friend, who was, shall we say, a rather exclusive lady of the evening. I never had an …um… business relationship with her. And although we were attracted to each other, Carol was not willing to give up her career, and we both agreed that, if we pursued anything beyond a friendship, it would probably destroy the friendship. Carol often told me, when there were large GOP meetings or religious right conventions in Phoenix, she and her friends imported professional ladies from Las Vegas, because the demand for services was so great that the local talent could not meet it. I’m sure the Bush/GOP Regime will find plenty of opportunity for scandal wherever they go.

I suspect that the Bush/GOP Reich really wants to meet in Vegas, but SLC has a powerful argument for getting the goose-steppers’ convention.
