Republicans will take control of the House in January with no new ideas, keeping their specific plans secret.  Their one overriding promise is to reduce the deficit.  Now that the elections are over, they are starting to talk, what they want first has become clear, and that will add a huge chunk to the deficit.  We also can\u2019t forget the things they are not talking about, but that we know are on the way.  They must be stopped.<\/font><\/p>\n

WALLACE:  If the president says, "Extend the tax cuts for the middle class permanently and I’ll agree to a two- or three-year extension for tax cuts for the wealthy," could you buy that?<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

CANTOR: First of all, Chris, let’s set the record straight. No one’s getting a tax cut here. One of two things is going to happen January 1. That is your rates are either going to — either going to go up or they’re going to stay the same. So this notion that somehow we are passing tax cuts is just not true.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

And so, no, I am not for decoupling the rates, because all that says to people looking to go back in and put capital to work and invest to create jobs is, "You’re going to get taxed on any return that you can expect." <\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

Cantor knows that we’re really talking about two different tax cuts — one that applies to every taxpayer, regardless of income, and one that only applies only to taxpayers with income over $250,000<\/strong>. Cantor also knows there isn’t much support for extending the "wealthy-only" tax cut and that unless he can hold the universal tax cut hostage, he doesn’t have the leverage he needs to get get the upper-income tax cut signed into law. That’s why he opposes decoupling the high-income tax cuts from the tax cuts that go to everybody (including high income earners, albeit only on their first $250,000 of income)\u2026 [emphasis added<\/em>]<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Of course Cantor is lying.  I need my tax cut.  I\u2019m on a fixed income and everything is going up.  But I\u2019d rather go without than see the country harmed by more Republican welfare for millionaires.  Rachel Maddow and small business expert, JJ Ramberg debunk the lies.<\/font><\/p>\n

But Republicans don\u2019t want basic fairness.  They want the criminal corporations they represent free to harvest the remaining assets of the poor and middle classes.<\/font><\/p>\n

Sadly, with all Obama\u2019s continued talk of compromise, I am not confident that we can count on him to hold the line, especially since Geithner and Bernanke have an influence on him.  Therefore the Republicans must be stopped before their measures reach Obama\u2019s desk, and that means doing so in the Senate.  Sadly, that will not happen if Harry Reid is Majority Leader.  He\u2019ll cave-in, like he has so many times before.  Click below.<\/font><\/p>\n
