{"id":3179,"date":"2010-10-23T02:05:20","date_gmt":"2010-10-23T09:05:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=3179"},"modified":"2010-10-23T02:05:20","modified_gmt":"2010-10-23T09:05:20","slug":"republicans-respect-no-boundaries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2010\/10\/23\/republicans-respect-no-boundaries\/","title":{"rendered":"Republicans Respect No Boundaries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">In my volunteer work with prisoners and former prisoners, one of the greatest challenges I sometimes face is teaching them the empathy required to respect boundaries.&#160; More evidence has surfaced to demonstrate that Supreme Court Justice, Clarence Thomas has no respect for boundaries, not only in his treatment of Anita Hill, but also in other relationships, and in his conduct as a Supreme Court Justice.&#160; This trait extends to other Republicans as well.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; margin: 2px 10px 5px 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"teabag-thomas\" border=\"0\" alt=\"teabag-thomas\" align=\"left\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/teabagthomas.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"280\" \/> When Anita Hill accused Clarence Thomas of sexual harassment during his explosive 1991 Supreme Court confirmation hearing, Thomas vehemently denied the allegations and <strong>his handlers cited his steady relationship with another woman in an effort to deflect Hill&#8217;s allegations<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>Lillian McEwen was that woman\u2026<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;To McEwen, Hill&#8217;s allegations that Thomas had pressed her for dates and made lurid sexual references rang familiar. <\/p>\n<p>&quot;<strong>He was always actively watching the women he worked with to see if they could be potential partners<\/strong>,&quot; McEwen said matter-of-factly. &quot;It was a hobby of his.&quot;\u2026<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;Given that history, she said Hill&#8217;s long-ago description of Thomas&#8217;s behavior resonated with her. <\/p>\n<p>&quot;<strong>He was obsessed with porn<\/strong>,&quot; she said of Thomas, who is now 63. &quot;He would talk about what he had seen in magazines and films, if there was something worth noting.&quot;&#8230; [<em>emphasis added<\/em>]<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Inserted from &lt;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2010\/10\/21\/AR2010102106645.html\" target=\"_blank\">Washington Post<\/a>&gt;<\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">This is a from a three page article well worth the read.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">I only wish McEwen had come forward at the time.&#160; She could have saved this nation from one of its worst Justices ever.&#160; If Thomas has no respect for personal boundaries, is it any wonder that he abused the boundaries of his office by attending, with Scalia, a closed-door strategy meeting for major Republican fundraisers before the Citizens United decision?<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">The Republican Party seems to attract politicians with no respect for boundaries:&#160; Larry Craig, John Ensign, David Vitter, just to name a few.&#160; Here\u2019s another extreme example.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in; font-family: calibri; font-size: 11pt\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; margin: 2px 0px 5px 10px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"23perry\" border=\"0\" alt=\"23perry\" align=\"right\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/23perry.jpg\" width=\"240\" height=\"173\" \/> A woman illegally strip-searched by a Wareham Police officer in the 1991 incident involving the officer\u2019s supervisor, former Sgt. <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Jeff Perry<\/span>, has released a statement harshly criticizing the now-candidate for Congress, saying Perry \u201cshould not be in a position of power.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in; font-family: calibri; font-size: 11pt\">In <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scribd.com\/doc\/39755544\/Lisa-Allen-Statement-On-Rep-Jeff-Perry\" target=\"_blank\">the statement<\/a> first released to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boston.com\/news\/local\/breaking_news\/2010\/10\/breaking_silenc.html?p1=News_links\" target=\"_blank\">the Boston Globe<\/a>, the woman, Lisa Allen, described her take on the incident:<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: calibri; font-size: 11pt\">Perry knew what (convicted former officer Scott) Flanagan did, he had to hear me screaming and crying.
