{"id":3122,"date":"2010-10-16T04:23:35","date_gmt":"2010-10-16T11:23:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=3122"},"modified":"2010-10-16T04:23:35","modified_gmt":"2010-10-16T11:23:35","slug":"obama-proposes-sane-social-security-solution","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2010\/10\/16\/obama-proposes-sane-social-security-solution\/","title":{"rendered":"Obama Proposes Sane Social Security Solution"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">When Obama set up the Fiscal Commission, he made a big mistake.&#160; In an attempt at bipartisanship, he gave Republicans equal say, guaranteeing that the commission can make no recommendations that the Republicans don\u2019t support, because they will goose-step together.&#160; To make matters worse, the Democrats include a notorious DINO.&#160; While I have reserved judgment until I see the actual report, I have come to think that calling it the cat food commission is not far off.&#160; Fortunately, Obama is taking a saner approach to the problem.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; margin: 2px 10px 5px 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"16catfood\" border=\"0\" alt=\"16catfood\" align=\"left\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/16catfood.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"201\" \/> President Barack Obama said on Thursday <strong>he favored raising more revenue for Social Security to prolong the solvency of the U.S. retirement fund, rather than just cutting benefits or making people work longer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Obama told a televised youth town hall event that he thought the best approach was <strong>to increase the amount of income subject to Social Security taxes above the current cap set around $106,000<\/strong>, but he did not rule anything out.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;I have said that all options are on the table.
