{"id":3023,"date":"2010-10-02T23:11:15","date_gmt":"2010-10-03T06:11:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=3023"},"modified":"2010-10-02T23:12:21","modified_gmt":"2010-10-03T06:12:21","slug":"the-best-advice-from-one-nation-working-together","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2010\/10\/02\/the-best-advice-from-one-nation-working-together\/","title":{"rendered":"The Best Advice from One Nation Working Together"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">I would love to have been there, but alas, it was much to far away.\u00a0 From what I understand, it put Beck\u2019s tiny attempt to become a religious icon to shame.\u00a0 Here\u2019s an article that describes it quite well.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 2px 10px 5px 0px; display: inline; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"3rally\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/3rally.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"3rally\" width=\"360\" height=\"249\" align=\"left\" \/> Thousands of concerned Americans gathered on the National Mall Saturday to rally under the banner of \u201cjobs, justice and education.\u201d The rally, &#8220;One Nation Working Together,&#8221; represented an affirmation of American values, and an antidote to the ugly rhetoric of the Tea Party.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The One Nation Working Together rally included hundreds of groups representing all Americans, including Latinos, blacks, senior citizens, students, educators, members of the GLBT community, as well as social, labor and environmental activists<\/strong>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;The One Nation Working Together rally created a show of force that rivals and surpasses the conservative tea party movement, <strong>a force for goodness and light<\/strong>, a force that must combat the evil and darkness of the Tea Party.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Tea Party is manned by the ignorant and motivated by manufactured fear bought and produced by corporate interests, and sold by amoral fear merchants and demagogues like Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The One Nation Working Together rally proved to be an antidote to Tea Party tyranny, <strong>offering Americans real answers<\/strong>, rather than hateful rhetoric&#8230; [<em>emphasis added<\/em>]<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Inserted from &lt;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.examiner.com\/progressive-in-portland\/one-nation-working-together-rally-reaffirms-real-american-values\" target=\"_blank\">Portland Examiner<\/a>&gt;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">As good as this article was, it missed what I consider to be a main point.\u00a0 Progressive change, for now, can only come from Democrats.\u00a0 Uniting behind them is the only way to keep Republicans out of power.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">I\u2019m not claiming that they deserve our loyalty and support.\u00a0 But the Republican Party\u2019s most progressive positions are the progress of your resources to the rich, the progress your rights to the toilet, and the progress of your environment to oblivion.\u00a0 Third party votes for national office ususlly have no effect, due to the plurality system, and should be reserved for situations like the 1st District in SC, where I have endorsed Rob Groce.\u00a0 The Democrat in the race is a Manchurian candidate installed by the Republicans.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I would love to have been there, but alas, it was much to far away.\u00a0 From what I understand, it put Beck\u2019s tiny attempt to become a religious icon to shame.\u00a0 Here\u2019s an article that describes it quite well.
