Republicans love to repeat the lie that the Democrats are engaging in class warfare by refusing to extend the Obama Tax Cuts to the richest 2% of Americans.  The fact is that Republicans have been so busy engaging in class warfare to redistribute wealth upward that the bottom two quintiles (that\u2019s 40%) of Americans possess only 0.2% (1\/5 of 1%) of the nation\u2019s wealth.  Here are some examples of the effects.<\/font><\/p>\n

\"23wealth\" …The following are 15 shocking poverty statistics that are skyrocketing as the American middle class continues to be slowly wiped out….<\/p>\n

#1<\/span> Approximately <\/span>45 million Americans<\/a> were living in poverty in 2009.<\/span><\/p>\n

#2<\/span> According to the Associated Press, experts believe that 2009 saw <\/span>the largest single year increase<\/a> in the U.S. poverty rate since the U.S. government began calculating poverty figures back in 1959.<\/span><\/p>\n

#3<\/span> The U.S. poverty rate is now <\/span>the third worst<\/a> among the developed nations tracked by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.<\/span><\/p>\n

#4<\/span> According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, on a year-over-year basis, household participation in the food stamp program <\/span>has increased 20.28%<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

#5<\/span> The number of Americans on food stamps <\/span>surpassed 41 million<\/a> for the first time ever in June.<\/span><\/p>\n

#6<\/span> As of June, the number of Americans on food stamps had set a new all-time record for 19 consecutive months<\/span>.<\/p>\n

#7<\/span> <\/span>One out of every six Americans<\/a> is now being served by at least one government anti-poverty program.<\/span><\/p>\n

#8<\/span> <\/span>More than 50 million Americans<\/a> are now on Medicaid, the U.S. government health care program designed principally to help the poor.<\/span><\/p>\n

#9<\/span> <\/span>One out of every seven mortgages<\/a> in the United States was either delinquent or in foreclosure during the first quarter of 2010.<\/span><\/p>\n

#10<\/span> Nearly 10 million Americans now receive unemployment insurance, which <\/span>is almost four times<\/a> as many as were receiving it in 2007.<\/span><\/p>\n

#11<\/span> The number of Americans receiving long-term unemployment benefits has <\/span>risen over 60 percent<\/a> in just the past year.<\/span><\/p>\n

#12<\/span> According to one recent survey, <\/span>28% of all U.S. households<\/a> have at least one member that is looking for a full-time job.<\/span><\/p>\n

#13<\/span> Nationwide, bankruptcy filings <\/span>rose 20 percent<\/a> in the 12 month period ending June 30th.<\/span><\/p>\n

#14<\/span> More than 25 percent of all Americans <\/span>now have a credit score below 599<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

#15<\/span> <\/span>One out of every five children<\/a> in the United States is now living in poverty.<\/span><\/p>\n

I have to admit that the above proves that the Republicans have been quite efficient in their implementation of No Millionaire Left Behind<\/em><\/strong>.  There is no lie the Republicans will not tell in their quest to enrich the rich at our expense.  One of their favorites is that excluding the top 2% from Obama\u2019s tax cut will hurt small business.  But when they make out that the small businesses hurt are the mom and pop operation on the corner, they lie.  They won\u2019t tell you which small businesses will have to pay more, but Keith Olbermann did.<\/font><\/p>\n
