{"id":29367,"date":"2017-09-08T13:31:43","date_gmt":"2017-09-08T20:31:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=29367"},"modified":"2017-09-08T13:31:43","modified_gmt":"2017-09-08T20:31:43","slug":"bernie-answers-hillarys-accusations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2017\/09\/08\/bernie-answers-hillarys-accusations\/","title":{"rendered":"Bernie Answers Hillary&#8217;s Accusations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">I am proud to have been a Bernie Sanders supporter, and I have never stopped supporting him.&#160; I was sad that the Democratic Party had less sense than the Portland bird pictured below, but I was proud that, after losing the nomination to Hillary Clinton, he endorsed her, urged his supporters to vote for her, raised funds for her and campaigned for her.&#160; Therefore, I was most disappointed to learn that in her coming new book, Clinton accused Bernie of costing her the Presidency.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; float: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-left: auto; display: block; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; margin-right: auto\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/BernieBird.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>America\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vice.com\/en_us\/article\/xww4ek\/bernie-sanders-is-the-most-popular-politician-in-america-poll-says-vgtrn\" target=\"_blank\">most popular<\/a> politician, Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., appeared on Stephen Colbert\u2019s \u201cLate Show\u201d Thursday night where he was asked to respond to leaked excerpts from Hillary Clinton\u2019s new book in which<strong> she blamed the senator for causing \u201clasting damage making it harder to unify progressives,\u201d as well as accused him of joining the presidential race to \u201cto disrupt the Democratic Party.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Instead of firing back at Clinton, the longest reigning Independent senator in U.S. history, explained that he didn\u2019t divide progressives at all. \u201cActually, the case is that the progressive movement today, and grassroots activism, is stronger than it has been in many, many years,\u201d Sanders told Colbert.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a result of our campaign, millions of young people began to vote for the first time, became engaged in the political process . . . <strong>we have got to stand together against [President Donald] Trump\u2019s efforts to divide us up<\/strong>, take on the billionaire class and make that political revolution so that we have a government that works for all of us, not just the one percent,\u201d Sanders explained.<\/p>\n<p>Colbert sarcastically pointed out that those were the exact attacks Clinton was talking about.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I understand,\u201d Sanders continued. \u201cLook, <strong>Secretary Clinton ran against the most unpopular candidate in the history of this country and she lost<\/strong> and was upset about that and I understand that,\u201d he said. \u201cBut our job now is really not to go backwards. It is to go forward. It is to create the kind of nation we know we can become.
