{"id":2877,"date":"2010-09-14T01:07:32","date_gmt":"2010-09-14T08:07:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=2877"},"modified":"2010-09-14T01:07:32","modified_gmt":"2010-09-14T08:07:32","slug":"no-millionaire-left-behind","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2010\/09\/14\/no-millionaire-left-behind\/","title":{"rendered":"No Millionaire Left Behind"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">When the news broke yesterday that Boehner has stated he would not hold Obama\u2019s tax cut for the people hostage to get a huge tax cut for the rich, I correctly opined that his claim was a fraud.&#160; Because Boehner knows that, if passes in that form, Senate Republicans will block it.&#160; Therefore, he and other House Republicans could make the claim that they supported tax cuts for the poor and middle classes.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; margin: 2px 0px 5px 10px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"GOP-no2\" border=\"0\" alt=\"GOP-no2\" align=\"right\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/GOPno2.jpg\" width=\"360\" height=\"212\" \/> Senate Republicans, including Scott Brown of Massachusetts, said yesterday they are opposed to an extension of tax cuts for middle-income families unless cuts also are extended for the wealthiest Americans, setting up a defining showdown with President Obama in the run-up to November\u2019s mid-term elections<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Senate minority leader <strong>Mitch McConnell dug in with an all-or-nothing approach<\/strong> and his spokesman said he had enough votes to block anything that falls short of a continuation of cuts for taxpayers in every bracket.<\/p>\n<p>The Senate signaled its determination after the Republican leader in the House, Representative John A. Boehner of Ohio, stunned Washington on Sunday by saying he was ready to compromise as a last resort and back Obama\u2019s plan to extend cuts for middle-income families while letting those for the highest wage earners expire.<\/p>\n<p>Although Democrats continued to accuse the GOP of holding middle-class tax cuts hostage in a bid to benefit the rich, Obama\u2019s position was complicated by the potential defection of some centrist Senate Democrats who also want tax cuts extended for everyone\u2026 [<em>emphasis added<\/em>]<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Inserted from &lt;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.boston.com\/news\/nation\/washington\/articles\/2010\/09\/14\/in_senate_gop_digs_in_against_ending_tax_cut_for_wealthy\/\" target=\"_blank\">Boston Globe<\/a>&gt;<\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Frankly, it\u2019s best to delay a vote in the House.&#160; During the Bush Regime, Republicans increased it every year.&#160; Now Republicans want to add $700 billion to the deficit to give every millionaire an extra $100,000.&#160; Why?&#160; That\u2019s whose side they are on.&#160;
