The Johnson Amendment never prevented that, nor was it intended to. What it did prevent is a pastor ordering his church to support a candidate or using the church&#8217;s tax exempt facilities for the benefit of a candidate. That should remain a violation of 501(c)(3).&#160; I don&#8217;t mind paying a little more in taxes so churches&#8217; tax exemption helps pay for the charitable work some churches do.&#160; I do mind helping them fund political activities, especially ones I oppose.&#160; <strong>RESIST<\/strong>!!<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">From <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailykos.com\/stories\/2017\/7\/13\/1680404\/-Did-they-think-we-wouldn-t-notice-Senate-Republicans-exempt-themselves-from-parts-of-Trumpcare\" target=\"_blank\">Daily Kos<\/a>: <\/font>The House Republicans tried to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailykos.com\/stories\/2017\/4\/27\/1656761\/-Oops-Republicans-decide-they-d-better-not-exempt-themselves-from-Zombie-Trumpcare-after-all\" target=\"_blank\">exempt themselves<\/a> from Trumpcare and the reaction was so angry and so bad that they had to abandon the effort. But that example <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/platform\/amp\/policy-and-politics\/2017\/7\/13\/15966034\/senate-republicans-exemption\" target=\"_blank\">wasn&#8217;t enough to deter Mitch McConnell<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Senate Republicans included a provision that exempts members of Congress and their staff from part of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/2017\/7\/13\/15964194\/new-senate-health-bill-explained-preexisting-conditions\" target=\"_blank\">their latest health care plan<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This exemption could have the effect of ensuring that members of Congress have coverage for a wider array of benefits than other Americans who purchase their own coverage.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">If RepubliCare becomes law, which I doubt, the Republicans that pass it should be the first to experience the RepubliCare Death Benefit: if you can&#8217;t pay, you get to die! <strong>RESIST<\/strong>!!<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">From <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/wonk\/wp\/2017\/07\/14\/white-house-releases-sensitive-personal-information-of-voters-worried-about-their-sensitive-personal-information\/\" target=\"_blank\">Washington Post<\/a>: <\/font>The White House on Thursday made public a trove of emails it received from voters offering comment on its Election Integrity Commission.
