{"id":2811,"date":"2010-09-08T02:12:06","date_gmt":"2010-09-08T09:12:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=2811"},"modified":"2010-09-08T02:12:06","modified_gmt":"2010-09-08T09:12:06","slug":"pawlenty-craves-that-tainted-cash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2010\/09\/08\/pawlenty-craves-that-tainted-cash\/","title":{"rendered":"Pawlenty Craves that Tainted Cash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Countless examples abound of Republican hypocrites, who rail against the spending in Obama\u2019s initiatives, even though it is deficit neutral or better, but are first pigs at the trough at feeding time.&#160; Republican presidential hopeful, Tim Pawlenty, is no exception.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/republicanlies.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; margin: 2px 10px 5px 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"republican-lies\" border=\"0\" alt=\"republican-lies\" align=\"left\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/republicanlies_thumb.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a> After criticizing Congress for passing a $26 billion aid package to state governments, Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty has sent <a href=\"http:\/\/minnesota.publicradio.org\/display\/web\/2010\/09\/07\/pawlenty-medicaid\/\" target=\"_blank\">a formal request<\/a> to Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius <strong>for $236 million for Medicaid from the very same funding bill he blasted as a \u201creckless spending spree.\u201d<\/strong> After <a href=\"http:\/\/minnesotaindependent.com\/63346\/pawlenty-clark-react-to-passage-of-26-1-billion-state-aid-bill\" target=\"_blank\">pronouncing<\/a> that \u201cthe federal government should not deficit spend to bail out states,\u201d the governor and likely presidential candidate even <a href=\"http:\/\/www.startribune.com\/politics\/state\/101129424.html?elr=KArks:DCiUMEaPc:UiD3aPc:_Yyc:aUU\" target=\"_blank\">offered clues<\/a> that he won\u2019t accept any new money from the federal government (unless that money was for <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.citypages.com\/blotter\/2010\/08\/tim_pawlenty_do.php\" target=\"_blank\">abstinence-only programs<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Pawlenty decided to relent like other \u201cprincipled\u201d Republican governors before him such as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2009\/04\/29\/sarah-palin-to-accept-mos_n_192802.html\" target=\"_blank\">Sarah Palin<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.politicsdaily.com\/2010\/08\/11\/south-carolinas-mark-sanford-accepts-stimulus-money-after-all\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mark Sanford<\/a>, <strong>who proudly disparage government programs and threaten to refuse the federal aid meant to protect the jobs of public employees and salvage state budgets\u2014then agree to accepting stimulus dollars when it\u2019s politically convenient<\/strong>.
