Tom Coburn (R-OK), said that he would attempt to slow down progress on health care reform by<\/font> <a href=\"http:\/\/thehill.com\/blogs\/blog-briefing-room\/news\/68107-coburn-to-force-reading-of-health-bill\" target=\"_blank\">insisting<\/a> <font color=\"#000000\">that the 1,000-page-plus health care reform bill be read aloud on the Senate floor. \u201cThe American people are going to get to<\/font> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rollcall.com\/news\/40650-1.html\" target=\"_blank\">hear this bill read, period<\/a><font color=\"#000000\">,\u201d said Coburn, adding that \u201che would also block other legislative shortcuts\u201d in an effort to delay the bill, such as requiring \u201cthe Senate to use up the entire 30-hour debate period called for after a filibuster has been broken.\u201d According to Roll Call, \u201cearlier this month, Republican leadership aides said Coburn was unlikely to make such a move without the blessing of GOP leaders.\u201d<\/font><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Inserted from &lt;<a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/2009\/11\/17\/coburn-read-health-bill\/\" target=\"_blank\">Think Progress<\/a>&gt;<\/p>\n<p>This is just a GOP delay while thousands of Americans keep dying from the lack of health care.&#160; Perhaps this GOP scum should remember the Hippocratic oath he took when he graduated from medical school.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\"><a href=\"http:\/\/s217.photobucket.com\/albums\/cc83\/TomCat1948or2\/Blog%202009\/SupplySideJesusandHealthCareReform_2F50\/hippocratesbust.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" style=\"border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin: 0px 10px 0px 0px; border-right-width: 0px\" height=\"181\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/s217.photobucket.com\/albums\/cc83\/TomCat1948or2\/Blog%202009\/SupplySideJesusandHealthCareReform_2F50\/hippocratesbust_thumb.jpg\" width=\"129\" align=\"left\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a> I swear to fulfill, to the best of my ability and judgment, this covenant:<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\">I will respect the hard-won scientific gains of those physicians in whose steps I walk, and gladly share such knowledge as is mine with those who are to follow.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\">I will apply, for the benefit of the sick, all measures [that] are required, avoiding those twin traps of overtreatment and therapeutic nihilism.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\">I will remember that there is art to medicine as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh the surgeon&#8217;s knife or the chemist&#8217;s drug.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\">I will not be ashamed to say &quot;I know not,&quot; nor will I fail to call in my colleagues when the skills of another are needed for a patient&#8217;s recovery.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\">I will respect the privacy of my patients, for their problems are not disclosed to me that the world may know. Most especially must I tread with care in matters of life and death. If it is given me to save a life, all thanks. But it may also be within my power to take a life; this awesome responsibility must be faced with great humbleness and awareness of my own frailty. My responsibility includes these related problems, if I am to care adequately for the sick.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\">I will prevent disease whenever I can, for prevention is preferable to cure.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\">I will remember that I remain a member of society, with special obligations to all my fellow human beings, those sound of mind and body as well as the infirm.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\">If I do not violate this oath, may I enjoy life and art, respected while I live and remembered with affection thereafter. That arrangement had allowed the building&#8217;s owner, the secretive international Christian organization The Family, to charge significantly<\/font> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lasvegassun.com\/news\/2009\/jul\/19\/behind-closed-doors-c-street\/\" target=\"_blank\">below market rents<\/a> <font color=\"#000000\">to its residents. In recent year, Senators John Ensign (R-NV), Tom Coburn (R-OK), Sam Brownback (R-KS) and Jim DeMint (R-SC), and Reps. Zach Wamp (R-TN), Bart Stupak (D-MI) and Mike Doyle (D-PA) have all reportedly called C Street home.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\">Natalie Wilson, a spokeswoman for the Office of Tax and Revenue for Washington D.C., told TPMmuckraker that her office inspected the house this summer. &quot;It was determined that portions of it were being rented out for private residential purposes,&quot; she said. As a result, the tax exempt status was partially revoked.
