{"id":26966,"date":"2017-03-27T11:57:20","date_gmt":"2017-03-27T18:57:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=26966"},"modified":"2017-03-27T11:57:20","modified_gmt":"2017-03-27T18:57:20","slug":"another-government-shutdown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2017\/03\/27\/another-government-shutdown\/","title":{"rendered":"Another Government Shutdown?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">How many of you remember the last time Republicans shut down the government in 2013.&#160; The problem then was that TEAbaggers believed that government shutdown was a good idea.&#160; Boehner caved in and Obama negotiated a settlement in which almost all House Democrats joined with a minority of Republicans to reinstate government services, but not before we had lost our top credit rating, so Republicans cost Americans $millions.&#160; The same TEAbaggers are still there.&#160; Their beliefs have not changed.&#160; On 4\/29 government is scheduled to shut down again.&#160; This time, instead of the President who cared and was a skillful negotiator, we will have a resident, who doesn&#8217;t even care, unless it can be pussy grabbed, speaks Russian, or has the Trump company logo.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"gopVision\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; float: left; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"gopVision\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/gopVision.jpg\" width=\"349\" align=\"left\" height=\"393\" \/>Republicans are having trouble realizing that \u201cas the heads of the government, they actually [have] to do something beyond angrily shaking their fists at the world,\u201d Salon\u2019s Matthew Sheffield has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salon.com\/2017\/03\/27\/downfall-of-a-policy-wonk-paul-ryan-becomes-the-latest-victim-of-the-american-rights-fundamental-dysfunction\/\" target=\"_blank\">pointed out<\/a>. That\u2019s a lesson that may come too late for GOP, as a government shutdown is looming. <\/p>\n<p>A shutdown is \u201cmore likely than not,\u201d Axios <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/gop-scrambles-to-defuse-shutdown-bomb-2331714482.html\" target=\"_blank\">reported<\/a> on Monday, pointing to April 29 as the day that the government will cease its routine functions after the last continuing resolution on funding expires. The last time the government shut down was in 2013, an event that lasted for two weeks. But that shutdown was a political maneuver, designed by Republicans who <a href=\"http:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/heres-happened-time-government-shut\/story?id=26997023\" target=\"_blank\">vehemently opposed<\/a> former President Barack Obama\u2019s immigration policies. But this isn\u2019t 2013, and the Republicans aren\u2019t against anything.
