It is a reminder that even as Republicans control both the White House and Congress for the first time in a decade, the party\u2019s activist wing remains restless and will not go along passively for the sake of party unity.<\/p>\n<p>With angry constituents storming town hall-style meetings across the country and demanding that Congress not repeal the law, these new campaigns are a sign of a growing concern on the right that lawmakers might buckle to the pressure&#8230;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">From &lt;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2017\/03\/05\/us\/politics\/koch-brothers-affordable-care-act.html\" target=\"_blank\">NY Times<\/a>&gt;<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Fortunately, there is also a push from the other side.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"GOPVoting\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; float: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-left: auto; display: block; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; margin-right: auto\" border=\"0\" alt=\"GOPVoting\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/GOPVoting.jpg\" width=\"650\" height=\"560\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Republican plans to repeal the Affordable Care Act have encountered a new obstacle: adamant opposition from many older Americans whose health insurance premiums would increase.<\/p>\n<p>AARP and its allies are bombarding congressional offices with objections as two House committees plan to vote on the Republicans\u2019 bill this week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If the law is repealed, the groups say, people in their 50s and 60s could see premiums rise by $2,000 to $3,000 a year or more: increases of 20 percent to 25 percent or higher<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Under current rules, insurers cannot charge older adults more than three times what they charge young adults for the same coverage.
