According to two sources with direct knowledge of the incident, Brandi, Fox\u2019s general counsel, hired a private investigator in late 2010 to obtain the personal home- and cell-phone records of Joe Strupp, a reporter for the liberal watchdog group Media Matters. (Through a spokesperson, Brandi denied this.) In the fall of that year, Strupp had written several articles quoting anonymous Fox sources, and the network wanted to determine who was talking to him. \u201cThis was the culture. Getting phone records doesn\u2019t make anybody blink,\u201d one Fox executive told me.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">I think Media Matters and Strupp could (and should) unbalance the Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda, <em>Faux Noise<\/em>, with a lawsuit to make their bank account several $million lighter.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailykos.com\/story\/2016\/9\/2\/1566178\/-Clinton-campaign-blasts-Trump-s-pay-to-play-scandal\" target=\"_blank\">Daily Kos<\/a>: <\/font>The Clinton campaign lays out the contrast between what Donald Trump\u2014with an eager assist from media outlets like the New York Times\u2014has been falsely accusing the Clinton Foundation of doing and what the Trump Foundation really did do:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&quot;Donald Trump has been falsely attacking the charity run by President Clinton when it is Trump&#8217;s own Foundation that has been caught in an actual pay-to-play scandal. <\/p>\n<p>&quot;While the Clinton Foundation has received the highest ratings from independent charitable watchdogs, Donald Trump&#8217;s use of foundation money to donate to the Florida Attorney General actually broke the law. Worst of all, it appears the payment may have been intended to stave off an investigation into the sham Trump University that has ripped off unsuspecting students.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Donald Trump has no standing whatsoever to question the Clinton Foundation, which works to make AIDS and malaria drugs more accessible, when it&#8217;s been proven he uses his own foundation to launder illegal campaign donations.&quot;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&#160;<iframe loading=\"lazy\" height=\"500\" src=\"http:\/\/player.theplatform.com\/p\/7wvmTC\/MSNBCEmbeddedOffSite?guid=n_hayes_DTrumpFoundationInvestigation_160902\" width=\"635\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe> <\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">There you have it. This criminal <em>quid quo pro<\/em> bribery from Trump is so typical of how the Republican Party projects their own crimes onto their opponents.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">From <a href=\"https:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/arizona-gop-releases-wanted-poster-with-bullet-holes-around-democratic-candidate-s-face-a10e022e64f5\" target=\"_blank\">Think Progress<\/a>: <\/font>Arizona Republicans, who are scrambling to help Sen. John McCain win the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/john-mccain-is-in-the-fight-of-his-life-in-the-age-of-donald-trump\/2016\/08\/29\/1e3168ac-6b11-11e6-99bf-f0cf3a6449a6_story.html\" target=\"_blank\">fight of his political life<\/a>,\u201d unveiled a poster this week depicting the face of McCain\u2019s Democratic challenger surrounded by bullet holes.<\/p>\n<p>The Wild West-themed poster accuses Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick (D-AZ) \u2014 who is polling <a href=\"http:\/\/nelpaction.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/AZResults1.pdf\">neck and neck<\/a> with McCain \u2014 of not holding enough public events during her campaign.<\/p>\n<p>The image has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.12news.com\/news\/politics\/giffords-calls-out-arizona-gop-for-gunshots-on-kirkpatrick-poster\/312712404\" target=\"_blank\">outraged many<\/a> in the state, as it comes just five years after another Arizona Democratic congresswoman was <a href=\"https:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/updated-democratic-rep-gabrielle-giffords-18-others-shot-at-event-in-arizona-judge-child-among-dead-f66bd6497ab0#.ff64mzmpc\" target=\"_blank\">shot in the head<\/a> at a public event.<\/p>\n<p>Former Rep.
