{"id":20485,"date":"2016-03-10T08:23:18","date_gmt":"2016-03-10T16:23:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=20485"},"modified":"2016-03-10T08:23:18","modified_gmt":"2016-03-10T16:23:18","slug":"hateful-hairball-is-a-nazi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2016\/03\/10\/hateful-hairball-is-a-nazi\/","title":{"rendered":"Hateful Hairball is a Nazi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Godwin&#8217;s Law &#8211; a common meme used by Republicans, other fascists, pseudo-intellectuals, and people with their heads in the sand or in smellier places, whenever anyone points out the verifiable commonalities between today&#8217;s Republican Party and Germany&#8217;s National Socialist Party, just before Hitler became dictator.<\/font> <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"0310trump-security-rule-sm\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; float: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-left: auto; display: block; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; margin-right: auto\" border=\"0\" alt=\"0310trump-security-rule-sm\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/0310trump-security-rule-sm.jpg\" width=\"652\" height=\"352\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve been reluctant to use the&#160; \u201cf\u201d word to describe Donald Trump because it\u2019s especially harsh, and it\u2019s too often used carelessly. <\/p>\n<p>But Trump has finally reached a point where <strong>parallels between his presidential campaign and the fascists of the first half of the 20th century \u2013 lurid figures such as Benito Mussolini, Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler, Oswald Mosley, and Francisco Franco \u2013 are too evident to overlook<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not just that Trump recently quoted Mussolini (he now calls that tweet inadvertent) or that he\u2019s begun inviting followers at his rallies to raise their right hands in a manner chillingly similar to the Nazi \u201cHeil\u201d solute (he dismisses such comparison as \u201cridiculous.\u201d)<\/p>\n<p>The parallels go deeper.<\/p>\n<p>As did the early twentieth-century fascists, Trump is focusing his campaign on the angers of white working people who have been losing economic ground for years, and who are easy prey for demagogues seeking to build their own power by scapegoating others\u2026 [<em>emphasis added<\/em>]<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Inserted from &lt;<a href=\"http:\/\/robertreich.org\/post\/140705539195\" target=\"_blank\">Robert Reich<\/a>&gt;<\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Once again I say that the Reich on left, Robert Reich, is right, while the Reich on the Right, the Republican Reich, is wrong.&#160; But I will split hairs with him on two small issues.&#160; Reich is so soft spoken that he would not be using the term Fascist, if the term Nazi did not equally apply.&#160; Because Hateful Hairball just says openly the things that the rest of the Republican leadership just imply, dog whistle, and support with policy, this applies to the entire party leadership.&#160; Click through for all the support materials that make Reich\u2019s points self-evident.<\/font><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Godwin&#8217;s Law &#8211; a common meme used by Republicans, other fascists, pseudo-intellectuals, and people with their heads in the sand or in smellier places, whenever anyone points out the verifiable commonalities between today&#8217;s Republican Party and Germany&#8217;s National Socialist Party, just before Hitler became dictator.
