Ted Cruz, aka Uranus Inspector, the only Canadian import worse than filthy Tar Sands sludge.&#160; It was also a big win for Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christianity, the exact opposite of authentic Christianity.&#160; To see how significant a win this was, we a;so need to look what he defeated, and it was a lot more powerful than the Hateful Hairball.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"0203Cruz\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; float: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-left: auto; display: block; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; margin-right: auto\" border=\"0\" alt=\"0203Cruz\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/0203Cruz.jpg\" width=\"650\" height=\"367\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) took the stage last night to declare victory in the Iowa Republican caucuses, he opened his triumphant speech with a direct appeal to the people who worked so hard to secure him his win \u2014 evangelical Christians.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGod bless the great state of Iowa,\u201d he said. \u201cLet me first of all say: to God be the glory.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cruz went on to make several more biblical references, working a litany of scripture passages and appeals to \u201cJudeo-Christian values\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/video\/2016\/02\/ted-cruz-delivers-victory-speech-in-iowa-041762\" target=\"_blank\">into a 30-minute speech<\/a> that often sounded suspiciously sermonesque. He then concluded by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Psalm+30%3A+5&amp;version=NRSV\" target=\"_blank\">citing Psalm 30<\/a>, stirring the crowd into a frenzy by reminding them that \u201cjoy cometh in the morning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI tell you tonight, Iowa has made clear to America and the world: morning is coming,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Cruz\u2019s engagement with Christianity on the campaign trail is nothing new, as he\u2019s made no secret of his evangelical strategy. He <a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/politics\/2015\/03\/23\/3637464\/biggest-problem-ted-cruzs-efforts-pander-evangelicals\/\" target=\"_blank\">launched his run for president<\/a> at <strong>Liberty University<\/strong>, an evangelical school, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/entry\/ted-cruz-family-leader-endorsement_us_5669c8e1e4b009377b242ed4\" target=\"_blank\">courted the endorsement<\/a> of leading theological conservatives in the Iowa, and <a href=\"http:\/\/fivethirtyeight.com\/features\/thousands-of-ted-cruz-supporters-play-a-game-that-might-win-iowa\/\" target=\"_blank\">organized a passionate network of conservative Christian volunteers<\/a> to help him get out the vote on caucus day.<\/p>\n<p>Cruz\u2019s engagement with Christianity on the campaign trail is nothing new, as he\u2019s made no secret of his evangelical strategy. <\/p>\n<p>And in Iowa, at least, it worked. <strong>Evangelicals flooded caucus sites across the state last night, ultimately making up 64 percent of Republican caucus-goers \u2014 up 7 points from 2012<\/strong> \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/the-fix\/wp\/2016\/02\/01\/what-we-can-learn-from-the-iowa-republican-entrance-poll\/\" target=\"_blank\">according to entrance polls<\/a>. And despite ample hand-wringing from political analysts over Donald Trump\u2019s support among portions of the evangelical flock, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/graphics\/politics\/2016-election\/primaries\/iowa-entrance-poll\/\" target=\"_blank\">biggest slice<\/a> of churchgoers sided with Cruz: he won the lion\u2019s share of \u201cborn again\u201d Christians at 34 percent, with Trump grabbing 22 percent and Sen. Marco Rubio \u2014 a Roman Catholic \u2014 pulling in 21 percent\u2026 [<em>emphasis added<\/em>]<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Inserted from &lt;<a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/politics\/2016\/02\/02\/3745437\/ted-cruz-evangelical-strategy\/\" target=\"_blank\">Think Progress<\/a>&gt;<\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Note that Liberty University and Regent University has more graduates in permanent \u201cnonpartisan\u201d executive staff positions than the Ivy League, because so many \u201cburrowed in\u201d to permanent, \u201cnonpartisan\u201d positions, especially in DOJ, from political appointee positions during the Bush Reich.&#160; Then last thing America needs is more pseudo-Christians sabotaging our freedom.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\"><a href=\"http:\/\/on.msnbc.com\/1SrQB1F\" target=\"_blank\">Lawrence O&#8217;Donnell<\/a> explained just how great an obstacle Uranus Inspector overcame.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" height=\"500\" src=\"http:\/\/player.theplatform.com\/p\/7wvmTC\/MSNBCEmbeddedOffSite?guid=n_lw_ethanolcruz_160202\" width=\"635\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Overcoming corn in Iowa with pseudo-Christianity is no laughing matter.&#160; While I have been laughing at the Cruz\u2019 campaign of pseudo-Christian hatred, I\u2019m not laughing any more, especially since so many front-end Republican primaries are dominated by the pseudo-Christians in their base.&#160; This magnifies how important it is for Democrats to turn out and vote!<\/font><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>His Iowa Caucuses victory was more than just a win for Sen.
