When asked about the environmentally disastrous process, Paul told the interviewer that he thinks \u201cwhoever owns the property can do with the property as they wish, and if the coal company buys it from a private property owner and they want to do it, fine.\u201d To justify his hands-off approach to environmental regulation, Paul then went on to explain that mountaintop removal isn\u2019t that bad, anyway, saying, \u201cI don\u2019t think anybody\u2019s going to be <a href=\"http:\/\/crooksandliars.com\/david-neiwert\/rand-paul-mountaintop-removal-i-don\" target=\"_blank\">missing a hill or two<\/a> here and there\u201d:<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: calibri; font-size: 11pt\">INTERVIEWER: What about mountaintop removal?<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: calibri; font-size: 11pt\">PAUL: <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">I think whoever owns the property can do with the property as they wish, and if the coal company buys it from a private property owner and they want to do it, fine.<\/span> The other thing I think is that I think coal gets a bad name, because I think a lot of the land apparently is quite desirable once it\u2019s been flattened out.
