{"id":1802,"date":"2010-06-09T03:29:59","date_gmt":"2010-06-09T10:29:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=1802"},"modified":"2010-06-09T03:29:59","modified_gmt":"2010-06-09T10:29:59","slug":"primary-report-692010","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2010\/06\/09\/primary-report-692010\/","title":{"rendered":"Primary Report &ndash; 6\/9\/2010"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/Tom122007_Painting_Painting1.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; margin: 2px 0px 5px 10px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"Tom122007_Painting_Painting\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Tom122007_Painting_Painting\" align=\"right\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/Tom122007_Painting_Painting_thumb1.jpg\" width=\"178\" height=\"240\" \/><\/a> Last night several primary elections were decided.&#160; I\u2019m not going to cober them all, but here\u2019s my take on some of the key races.&#160; On the Democratic side there was only one contest of national interest.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">In Arkansas, Blanch \u201cI killed the public option\u201d Lincoln won a narrow victory over Bill Halter, in a stunning defeat for progressives.&#160; The election is controversial, because a Lincolnista party hack closed around forty polling places, leaving only two, in Garland County, one of Halter\u2019s strongest areas.&#160; I cannot say whether or not that would have made a difference in the outcome.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Now DINO pundits like Chris \u201cTweety\u201d Matthews are blaming progressives for making Lincoln unelectable in the general election.&#160; Say what?&#160; Lincoln was trailing potential GOP opponents by double digits before halter entered the race.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">I predict that, now that she has the nomination, Lincoln will not defend the key financial reform amendment she sponsored.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">On the GOP side, there were several key decisions.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/LowdenLoses.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; margin: 2px 10px 5px 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"LowdenLoses\" border=\"0\" alt=\"LowdenLoses\" align=\"left\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/LowdenLoses_thumb.jpg\" width=\"164\" height=\"244\" \/><\/a> In Nevada, Sharon Angle easily defeated Sue Lowden to challenge Harry Reid in November.&#160; A devout advocate of Teabuggery, Angle wants to end Social Security, close the Department of education and withdraw from the UN.&#160; Rumor has it that Reid is delighted, but I can assure you that chickens all over the country are having a victory party.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">In South Carolina, Nikki Haley won the plurality in Governor\u2019s race, but will have to face Gresham Barrett in a runoff election.&#160; She\u2019s the one who has been twice accused of hiking the Appalachian Trail and has been called a \u201cRaghead\u201d by members of her own party.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">In California Meg Whitman bought the GOP nomination to oppose jerry Brown for Governor.&#160; It cost her the tidy sum of $81 million of her own money.&#160; Also, Carly Fiorina spent $6 million of the money she was paid for trashing HP to win the right to oppose Barbara Boxer.&#160; Sadly, Orly \u201cBirtheristra Bimbo\u201d Taitz did not win the GOP nomination for Secretary of State.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Remember your duty to learn the candidates, learn the issues and vote.&#160; People who do not vote deserve Republican rule.<\/font><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last night several primary elections were decided.&#160; I\u2019m not going to cober them all, but here\u2019s my take on some of the key races.&#160; On the Democratic side there was only one contest of national interest.
