{"id":17377,"date":"2015-11-11T14:26:45","date_gmt":"2015-11-11T22:26:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=17377"},"modified":"2015-11-11T14:26:45","modified_gmt":"2015-11-11T22:26:45","slug":"clown-car-destruction-derby-iv","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2015\/11\/11\/clown-car-destruction-derby-iv\/","title":{"rendered":"Clown Car Destruction Derby IV"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">I planned to watch the excrement flow, last night, but providence intervened.&nbsp; Just as clowns were about to take the stage, I fell asleep and stayed that way for several hours.&nbsp; While that\u2019s great for my peace of mind, it leaves me having to rely on&nbsp; others&nbsp; reporting.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"1111debate\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; float: left; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"1111debate\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/1111debate.jpg\" width=\"360\" align=\"left\" height=\"240\">After weeks of personal sniping, the Republican presidential candidates clashed sharply over immigration and other policies in their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2015\/11\/11\/us\/politics\/transcript-republican-presidential-debate.html\" target=\"_blank\">debate<\/a> here on Tuesday, with Gov. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2015\/07\/21\/us\/elections\/john-kasich.html?inline=nyt-per\" target=\"_blank\">John Kasich<\/a> of Ohio and former Gov. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2015\/11\/11\/us\/politics\/a-nimbler-jeb-bush-turns-feisty-but-is-it-enough.html\" target=\"_blank\">Jeb Bush<\/a> of Florida trying to energize their campaigns by heaping scorn on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2015\/06\/16\/us\/elections\/donald-trump.html?inline=nyt-per\" target=\"_blank\">Donald J. Trump<\/a>\u2019s plan to deport unauthorized immigrants.  <\/p>\n<p>In the most substantive Republican debate so far, Mr. Kasich and Mr. Bush, who have been fading in polls, presented themselves as experienced chief executives who had practical solutions to deal with national challenges like immigration. Yet Mr. Trump and another candidate, Senator <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2015\/03\/23\/us\/politics\/ted-cruz-path-to-presidency.html?inline=nyt-per\" target=\"_blank\">Ted Cruz<\/a> of Texas, inveighed against what they called amnesty and argued that undocumented workers were driving down Americans\u2019 wages.  <\/p>\n<p>The splintering over immigration, in a campaign dominated so far by the personas, speeches and backgrounds of the candidates, illuminated the brightest dividing line between Republican hopefuls like Mr. Bush and Mr. Kasich, who favor a comprehensive immigration overhaul, and the many primary voters who have embraced Mr. Trump\u2019s harsh language about immigrants in the country illegally.  <\/p>\n<p>While several other candidates, like Senator <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2015\/04\/14\/us\/elections\/marco-rubio.html?inline=nyt-per\" target=\"_blank\">Marco Rubio<\/a> of Florida and the retired neurosurgeon <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2015\/05\/04\/us\/elections\/ben-carson.html?inline=nyt-per\" target=\"_blank\">Ben Carson<\/a>, received a pass from the moderators on immigration, Mr. Kasich took on the issue directly after Mr. Trump defended his plan to build a wall along the Mexican border and to identify and deport some 11 million people..<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Inserted from &lt;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2015\/11\/11\/us\/republican-debate-fox-business.html\" target=\"_blank\">NY Times<\/a>&gt;  <\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Lets not forget that what Strike Three Bush and KKK Kasich consider \u201ccomprehensive\u201d reform includes no path to citizenship.&nbsp; The rest are just as bad as Hairball and Uncle Token.&nbsp; They are just better at disguising their intent.<\/font>  <\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">There was a lot for Democrats to like, also.<\/font>  <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"1111demlogo\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; float: right; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"1111demlogo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/1111demlogo.jpg\" width=\"360\" align=\"right\" height=\"360\">Republicans weren\u2019t the only ones watching Tuesday\u2019s night Republican presidential debate on the Fox Business Network. Democrats were too, eager to find fodder to attack whomever emerges as the GOP nominee next year. \u201cSometimes I think that the Republican candidates forget it\u2019s not just Republicans who are watching these debates,\u201d said Democratic National Committee chairwomen Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, saying the candidates were exposed \u201cpander[ing] to their Tea Party base.\u201d  <\/p>\n<p>Here are six moments from last night\u2019s debate most likely to end up in a Democratic attack ad next year:  <\/p>\n<h6>No one wants to raise the minimum wage<\/h6>\n<p>Raising the minimum wage is widely popular, but all three Republican presidential candidates asked about it Tuesday night said they oppose raising the level. \u201cWages [are] too high,\u201d Donald Trump said, suggesting wages actually needed to be lowered to create jobs.
