{"id":15419,"date":"2015-06-12T12:18:33","date_gmt":"2015-06-12T19:18:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=15419"},"modified":"2015-06-12T12:18:33","modified_gmt":"2015-06-12T19:18:33","slug":"probable-cause-now-what","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2015\/06\/12\/probable-cause-now-what\/","title":{"rendered":"Probable Cause: Now What?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">When I learned that community activists had filed a motion before an Ohio court to indict the police officers, who murdered Tamir Rice, I expected to wait weeks, if not months, for a decision.&#160; To my great surprise, it came in just a couple days.&#160; It was not everything I had hoped, but almost.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"0612TamirProtest\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; float: left; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"0612TamirProtest\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/0612TamirProtest.jpg\" width=\"360\" align=\"left\" height=\"240\" \/>A judge in Cleveland ruled Thursday that probable cause existed to charge two Cleveland police officers in the death of a 12-year-old boy, Tamir Rice, but the judge also said he did not have the power to order arrests without a complaint being filed by a prosecutor.<\/p>\n<p>In his ruling, Judge Ronald B. Adrine, presiding judge of the Municipal Court, found probable cause to charge Officer Timothy Loehmann, who fired the fatal shot, with murder, involuntary manslaughter, reckless homicide and dereliction of duty.
