I therefore endorse Bernie Sanders for the office of President of the United States.&#160; I will be sending him money.&#160; Sadly, it will be a very small donation, because that\u2019s all there is to give.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"bernie-sanders\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto\" border=\"0\" alt=\"bernie-sanders\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/bernie-sanders.jpg\" width=\"537\" height=\"308\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Senator Bernie Sanders, an independent from Vermont, announced Thursday that he was running for president as a Democrat, injecting a progressive voice into the contest and providing Hillary Rodham Clinton with her first official rival for the party\u2019s nomination.<\/p>\n<p>Avoiding the fanfare that several Republicans have chosen so far when announcing their candidacies, Mr. Sanders issued a statement to supporters that laid out his goals for <strong>reducing income inequality, addressing climate change and scaling back the influence of money in politics<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter a year of travel, discussion and dialogue, I have decided to be a candidate for the Democratic nomination for president,\u201d Mr. Sanders told his supporters.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Sanders\u2019s bid is considered a longshot, but his unflinching commitment to stances popular with the left \u2014 such as <strong>opposing foreign military interventions and reining in big banks<\/strong> \u2014 could force Mrs. Clinton to address these issues more deeply.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it is time for the American people to say enough is enough,\u201d he said in an interview. \u201c<strong>We need an economy that works for all of us and not just for a handful of billionaires<\/strong>.\u201d\u2026 [<em>emphasis added<\/em>]<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Inserted from &lt;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2015\/04\/30\/us\/politics\/bernie-sanders-campaign-for-president.html\" target=\"_blank\">NY Times<\/a>&gt;<\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">My reason for choosing Bernie is clear.&#160; His positions reflect my own views far more closely that Hillary&#8217;s do.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">However, I\u2019m not so naive as to think that Bernie has a strong chance to get the nomination.&#160; The last thing I want is to see the Democratic nominee, whoever it is, bloodied from intra-party attacks.&#160; So I\u2019ll base my support of Bernie on how Bernie stands on issues.&#160; I will not try to soothe Bernie\u2019s butt with Benghazi Balm, a Republican product.&#160; I will not be attacking Hillary.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">No matter which Democrat you support, I urge you to respect their Democratic opponent(s) and save your attacks for the politicians who deserve them.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"RepublicanPlatform\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px;
