{"id":14859,"date":"2015-03-07T09:59:39","date_gmt":"2015-03-07T17:59:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=14859"},"modified":"2015-03-07T09:59:39","modified_gmt":"2015-03-07T17:59:39","slug":"another-oil-train-burns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2015\/03\/07\/another-oil-train-burns\/","title":{"rendered":"Another Oil Train Burns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">It seems that we can\u2019t turn on the TV anymore without seeing a burning oil train polluting the environment, despoiling waterways,and threatening lives and property.&#160; Unfortunately, what makes that all seem insignificant to the criminal corporations and corrupt politicians that allow Bakken&#160; crude trains, is the huge profits they also carry.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"0307train_oil\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; float: left; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"0307train_oil\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/0307train_oil.jpg\" width=\"360\" align=\"left\" height=\"270\" \/>A derailed oil train continues to burn in northwestern Illinois near the Mississippi River town of Galena more than 24 hours after it crashed.<\/p>\n<p>It is the third fiery derailment of trains carrying crude from the Bakken area of North Dakota in the past three weeks, raising more questions about the volatility of the oil and the safety of the tank cars used to transport crude.<\/p>\n<p>No one was hurt when the BNSF Railway freight train derailed at about 1:20 p.m. Thursday in a hilly and heavily wooded area near where a tributary joins the Mississippi, about three miles south of Galena, IL.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, BNSF says 21 of the train&#8217;s 103 tank cars loaded with light Bakken crude left the tracks and at least five of them ruptured and caught fire.
