The National Council for a New America was supposed to be, in the words of founder Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA), &quot;a conversation with the American people&quot; to &quot;develop innovative solutions that meet the serious challenges confronting our country.&quot;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;; font-size: 10.5pt\">But, <span style=\"font-style: italic\">Roll Call<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cqpolitics.com\/wmspage.cfm?docID=news-000003656217\" target=\"_blank\">reports<\/a>, <strong>the group is now dead one year after it launched to what, in hindsight, appears to be excessive media coverage of an entity that hadn&#8217;t actually done anything<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;; font-size: 10.5pt\">&quot;Republican Party plans comeback&quot; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2009\/POLITICS\/04\/30\/gop.rebrand\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">declared<\/a> CNN; &quot;GOP recasts brand, sans wedge issues,&quot; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/stories\/0409\/21957.html\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a> <span style=\"font-style: italic\">Politico<\/span>; &quot;GOP Forms Ideas Coalition&quot; said National Journal. In fact, <strong>there were no less than 5,000 positive media hits for the National Council for a New America<\/strong>, Cantor&#8217;s spokesman told <span style=\"font-style: italic\">Roll Call<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;; font-size: 10.5pt\">Despite all that, the national conversation never really happened. There was <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.timesdispatch.com\/rtd\/news\/state_regional\/state_regional_govtpolitics\/article\/ERIC07_20100506-223408\/342799\/\" target=\"_blank\">only one<\/a> town hall meeting attended by GOP heavyweights, in Arlington, Virginia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;; font-size: 10.5pt\"><span style=\"font-style: italic\">Roll Call<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cqpolitics.com\/wmspage.cfm?docID=news-000003656217\" target=\"_blank\">reports<\/a> that <strong>the Cantor camp is blaming &quot;liberals&quot; for killing the group<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: calibri; font-size: 11pt\">&quot;It&#8217;s very simple,&quot; said Rob Collins, president of the American Action Network and Cantor&#8217;s former deputy chief of staff. &quot;<strong>The NCNA dominated the national media so effectively that liberals in and out of Congress &#8212; including [Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington] &#8212; attacked it<\/strong>.&quot; <\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in; font-family: calibri; font-size: 11pt\">&#8230; [<em>emphasis added<\/em>]<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Inserted from &lt;<a href=\"http:\/\/tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com\/2010\/05\/cantor_national_council_for_new_america_dead.php\" target=\"_blank\">TPM<\/a>&gt;<\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Right!&#160; Tell me that the GOP politicians and pundits, their Teabagger storm troopers, and the GOP Reichsministry of Propaganda, <em>Faux Noise<\/em>, has not been in continual attack mode since GHW lost the Presidency to Clinton.&#160; The only lefty group that they could take down was ACORN, and that took a falsified video tape and an Act of Congress.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Despite ample undeserved positive coverage from the MSM, NCNA went down for one reason only.&#160; The GOP ran out of new ways to say NO.<\/font><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>No, Nope, Nay, Naw, Nyet\u2026 The GOP has run out of ideas.
