{"id":14198,"date":"2014-11-24T01:46:45","date_gmt":"2014-11-24T09:46:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=14198"},"modified":"2014-11-24T01:46:45","modified_gmt":"2014-11-24T09:46:45","slug":"go-for-it-udall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2014\/11\/24\/go-for-it-udall\/","title":{"rendered":"Go for It, Udall!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Let me begin this with a Hat-Tip to Joanne Dixon.&#160; Even though I\u2019m not using the article she sent me, she\u2019s been hoping I\u2019d cover this story, involving her Senator, for a while now.&#160; For me, it goes much further back.&#160; I was calling for the criminal prosecution of Republican war criminals, during Texas Torquemada\u2019s first term, long before Obama took office.&#160; Anyone who has followed me long term knows that this has been an ongoing issue for me.&#160; One of my pet peeves about the Obama administration has been their failure to pursue this.&#160; Therefore, I feel quite angry that they are now acting to protect Republican war criminals.&#160; I support the Udall plan.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"font-family: ; margin: 0in; line-height: normal\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"war criminal3\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; float: right; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"war criminal3\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/war-criminal3.jpg\" width=\"360\" align=\"right\" height=\"267\" \/>White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough met with Senate Democrats Thursday to provide a briefing on President Obama&#8217;s immigration plans. But once the immigration talk was over, the meeting reportedly devolved into chaos as an angry lawmaker <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2014\/11\/20\/cia-torture-white-house_n_6195032.html?utm_hp_ref=tw\" target=\"_blank\">confronted<\/a><font color=\"#0066cc\"><\/font> McDonough over the White House&#8217;s foot-dragging and obstruction over releasing the committee&#8217;s report on CIA torture.<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: ; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; line-height: normal\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">&quot;It was a vigorous, vigorous and open debate &#8212; one of the best and most thorough discussions I&#8217;ve been a part of while here,&quot; said Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.). <\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: ; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; line-height: normal\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.), who served as intelligence committee chair before Feinstein, was furious after the meeting, and accused the administration of deliberately stalling the report.<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: ; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; line-height: normal\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">\u201cIt\u2019s being slow-walked to death. They don\u2019t want the public to know about it<\/strong>.&quot;<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: ; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; line-height: normal\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">As negotiations continue, Rockefeller said Democrats were thinking creatively about how to resolve the dispute. &quot;We have ideas,&quot; he said, adding that reading the report&#8217;s executive summary into the record on the Senate floor would probably meet with only limited success. &quot;The question would be how much you could read before they grabbed you and hauled you off.&quot;<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: ; margin: 0in; line-height: normal\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">A question following that is who exactly is going to grab a lawmaker and haul him or her off? A senator on the floor of the chamber is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/politics\/archive\/2014\/11\/the-secrets-that-senator-mark-udall-should-expose\/382811\/\" target=\"_blank\">protected by the Constitution<\/a><font color=\"#0066cc\"><\/font>.
