Every week, Republicans join a competition to see who can say the most outlandish things, and in the process, every week they push the envelope on just how crazy InsaniTEA can become.  I trust that you will believe it, when I tell you that last week was no exception.<\/font><\/p>\n

\"1028JoniPigNutsErnst\"Joni Ernst wants to go to Washington and be a senator packing heat, in case she\u2019s attacked by the government.<\/strong><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s one thing to run on a shrink-the-government platform. Wingnut Joni Ernst of Iowa is running for Senate on a \u201cI\u2019m scared of the government; that\u2019s why I need to carry my gun with me everywhere to protect me from the government that I want to join,\u201d platform.<\/font><\/p>\n

OK, it\u2019s a little long and unwieldy, but she\u2019s working on it.<\/font><\/p>\n

Video surfaced this week of this Koch-funded Iowa extremist speaking lovingly of her gun at an NRA event two years ago. Somehow, it seems relevant now. In it, Ernst says:<\/font><\/p>\n

\u201cI have a beautiful little Smith & Wesson, 9 millimeter, and it goes with me virtually everywhere\u2026I believe in the right to defend myself and my family \u2014 whether it\u2019s from an intruder, or whether it\u2019s from the government, should they decide that my rights are no longer important.\u201d<\/font><\/p>\n

This beacon of level-headed leadership won the GOP primary with the help of an ad showing her glee at castrating hogs.<\/font><\/p>\n

\u201cWashington\u2019s full of big spenders,\u201d she said to the camera before slicing into the poor animal\u2019s testicles, \u201clet\u2019s make \u2018em squeal.\u201d Kind of like the guy in Deliverance<\/em><\/span>."<\/font><\/p>\n

Ernst has also gone on the record for promising to jail federal bureaucrats who try to implement Obamacare in her state. She is really a Koch kind of gal.<\/font><\/p>\n

Now that we know that this loon\u2019s got a gun and she knows how to use it\u2014and she\u2019s ahead in the polls\u2014we can all sleep better at night.<\/font><\/p>\n

Except the pigs.<\/font><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
