It&#8217;s what&#8217;s in our souls. &#8230;&quot; <\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in; font-family: verdana; font-size: 8.25pt\"><span style=\"color: #242424\">Now, at this point, we really ought to turn to what the supreme document of our country, <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.archives.gov\/exhibits\/charters\/constitution_amendments_11-27.html\" target=\"_blank\">the U.S. Constitution<\/a><span style=\"color: #242424\">, has to say about who a citizen is:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: verdana; color: #222222; font-size: 8.25pt\">AMENDMENT XIV<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: verdana; color: #222222; font-size: 8.25pt\">Passed by Congress June 13, 1866. Ratified July 9, 1868.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: verdana; color: #222222; font-size: 8.25pt\">Note: Article I, section 2, of the Constitution was modified by section 2 of the 14th amendment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: verdana; color: #222222; font-size: 8.25pt\">Section 1. <\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: verdana; color: #222222; font-size: 8.25pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.<\/span> No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws. <\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in; font-family: verdana; color: #242424; font-size: 8.25pt\">Ironic, isn&#8217;t it? Conservatives love to talk about the Constitution until they&#8217;re blue in the face&#8211;until it gets in the way of their anti-immigrant tendencies.
