important; color: #5799db! important; border-bottom: #999 1px dotted; height: 13px; text-decoration: none! important\" href=\"http:\/\/www.msnbc.msn.com\/id\/3032072\" target=\"_blank\">News about the Economy<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>On the health care front, Snake-Oil Sarah Palin is back with more claims of death panels.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\"><a href=\"http:\/\/s217.photobucket.com\/albums\/cc83\/TomCat1948or2\/Blog%202009\/IntheNews99_21E8\/Palin.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Palin\" style=\"border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin: 0px 0px 0px 5px; border-right-width: 0px\" height=\"166\" alt=\"Palin\" src=\"http:\/\/s217.photobucket.com\/albums\/cc83\/TomCat1948or2\/Blog%202009\/IntheNews99_21E8\/Palin_thumb.jpg\" width=\"244\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a> As President Barack Obama prepared to make a new pitch for healthcare reform, former Alaska governor Sarah Palin warned that Democrats sought a government system that would include &quot;death panels.&quot;<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\">Writing in The Wall Street Journal newspaper, the one-time Republican vice-presidential candidate did not hesitate to revive a claim she made last month: that the healthcare reform package would create panels empowered to make life-and-death decisions on behalf of Americans.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\">Palin said Obama had suggested in an interview in April that expert panels &quot;should guide decisions regarding that &#8216;huge driver of cost&#8230; the chronically ill and those towards the end of their lives&#8230;&quot;<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\">&quot;Given such statements, is it any wonder that many of the sick and elderly are concerned that the Democrats&#8217; proposals will ultimately lead to rationing of their health care by &#8212; dare I say it &#8212; death panels?&quot; Palin wrote&#8230;<\/font><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Inserted from &lt;<a href=\"As President Barack Obama prepared to make a new pitch for healthcare reform, former Alaska governor Sarah Palin warned that Democrats sought a government system that would include &quot;death panels.&quot;\" target=\"_blank\">AFP<\/a>&gt;<\/p>\n<p>Sarah wants to cover up the fact that Alaska\u2019s state healthcare program for the disabled was so grossly inefficient that people have died from neglect, thereby more closely resembling death panels than anything in any of the Democratic versions of the bill.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps even more outrageous is this: the details of the plan from Baucus\u2019 Finance Committee went to special interests on K Street before going to the President.&#160; Here is a segment from an interview with Robert Gibbs.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\"><a href=\"http:\/\/s217.photobucket.com\/albums\/cc83\/TomCat1948or2\/Blog%202009\/IntheNews99_21E8\/baucus.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"baucus\" style=\"border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin: 0px 5px 0px 0px; border-right-width: 0px\" height=\"244\" alt=\"baucus\" src=\"http:\/\/s217.photobucket.com\/albums\/cc83\/TomCat1948or2\/Blog%202009\/IntheNews99_21E8\/baucus_thumb.jpg\" width=\"201\" align=\"left\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a> \u2026<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\">QUESTION: The Finance Committee \u2014 well, actually, Senator Baucus\u2019s draft has been, now, bouncing around for a few days on Capitol Hill.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\">First, has the president seen it (inaudible) his outline?<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\">GIBBS: I don\u2019t \u2014 I don\u2019t believe \u2014 I don\u2019t believe anybody here has \u2014 I\u2019m \u2014 we\u2019ve seen what we\u2019ve read in the paper, but I do not believe that we\u2019ve seen paper on the plan.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\">QUESTION: I understand it\u2019s bouncing around K Street.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\">GIBBS: Not surprisingly, but I have not seen it here.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\">QUESTION: And has there been any direct consultations between anyone at the White House and Senator Baucus or anyone in the group of six, since this outline began being floated on Sunday?<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\">GIBBS: I don\u2019t \u2014 I don\u2019t know how far back that would go. We\u2019re \u2014 we continue to talk to all the players involved. Obviously, you know Speaker Pelosi and Leader Reid will be here momentarily. So he\u2019s going to continue to talk to all of those involved.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\">QUESTION: What did you just mean\u2026<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\">(CROSSTALK)<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\">QUESTION: I\u2019m sorry. It just doesn&#8217;t happen.
