I realize that not all have that option, but we need to redesign our cities so that more do.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailykos.com\/story\/2014\/05\/06\/1297266\/-NY-GOP-Candidate-Calls-Melissa-Harris-Perry-a-Damned-Dirty-Ape\" target=\"_blank\">Daily Kos<\/a>: <\/font><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/news\/politics\/upstate-pol-stirs-race-furor-tweet-msnbc-anchor-article-1.1780967\" target=\"_blank\">The New York Daily News reported today<\/a> that Dutchess County controller Jim Coughlan, a Republican candidate for the New York State Senate, tweeted the following about MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Keep your stinking paws off my kid, you damned dirty ape.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>According to the report in the Daily News Coughlan denies knowing that Harris-Perry is African American and instead was simply quoting the famous line from the original Planet of the Apes.&#160; Sure, not racist at all.&#160; It is so believable. <\/p>\n<p>And what did Harris-Perry say to set Coughlan off?<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWe have never invested as much in public education as we should have,\u201d Harris-Perry said, \u201cbecause we&#8217;ve always had kind of a private notion of children: \u2018Your kid is yours, and totally your responsibility.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Right! The typically racist Republican did not know she is black. He also does not know the Pope is Catholic and has no idea where bears shit!. Whatever happened to: &quot;It takes a village to raise a child?&quot; Republicans love that one, when they are using it as a rationalization to keep children from adoption by gay parents.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2014\/05\/08\/upshot\/on-climate-republicans-and-democrats-are-from-different-continents.html\" target=\"_blank\">NY Times<\/a>: <\/font>Americans are less worried about climate change than the residents of any other high-income country, as my colleague Megan Thee-Brennan <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2014\/05\/07\/upshot\/americans-are-outliers-in-views-on-climate-change.html\" target=\"_blank\">wrote<\/a> Tuesday. When you look at the details of these polls, you see that American exceptionalism on the climate stems almost entirely from Republicans.
