Over the weekend, a nonpartisan group of veterans planned a protest to demonstrate against the effects of the Republican Shutdown.  Republicans had so little respect for those veterans that they hijacked their demonstration, but that\u2019s nothing compared with the despicable way they acted afterwards.<\/font><\/p>\n

\"16Respect\"Angered by the closure of national landmarks due to the partial government shutdown, a crowd of conservatives removed barricades Sunday at the World War II Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial as they rallied against President Barack Obama and Democrats for their role in the ongoing stalemate.<\/p>\n

High-profile speakers with close ties to the tea party appeared at the event, including former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas.<\/p>\n

The rally, billed as the "Million Vet March on the Memorials,"<\/a> drew far fewer than a million people<\/strong> and evolved into a protest that resembled familiar tea party events from 2009, with yellow "Don’t Tread On Me" flags throughout the crowd and strong anti-Obama language from the podium and the audience.<\/p>\n

One speaker went as far as saying the president was a Muslim and separately urged the crowd of hundreds to initiate a peaceful uprising.<\/p>\n

"I call upon all of you to wage a second American nonviolent revolution, to use civil disobedience, and to demand that this president leave town, to get up, to put the Quran down<\/strong>, to get up off his knees, and to figuratively come out with his hands up," said Larry Klayman of Freedom Watch, a conservative political advocacy group\u2026 [emphasis added<\/em>]<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Actually, there were about 200 people there.  I suspect that most of the folks, for whom the rally was originally intended, left in disgust.<\/font><\/p>\n

Here we see a sure sign of Republican defeat. When you you are so desperate that you have to share the stage with Drill Baby Dingbat, you’ve already lost.<\/font><\/p>\n

Note that George writes for the New York Post, so his attempts to defend Republican racism for Murdoch is particularly hypocritical, even though he was clearly uncomfortable when doing so.<\/font><\/p>\n

So this is how Republicans show respect.  They hijacked someone else\u2019s rally.  They accused a Christian of being a Muslim.  They waved a confederate flag in front of the White House to threaten a black family.  They know no shame!<\/font><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
