{"id":11358,"date":"2013-10-12T01:17:02","date_gmt":"2013-10-12T08:17:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=11358"},"modified":"2013-10-12T01:17:02","modified_gmt":"2013-10-12T08:17:02","slug":"the-cost-of-sowing-the-wind","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2013\/10\/12\/the-cost-of-sowing-the-wind\/","title":{"rendered":"The Cost of Sowing the Wind"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">The Bible teaches that sowing the wind is not free.&#160; There is a cost.&#160; Republicans have tried to destroy Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid since their inception, because they hate the notion of anything other than death as the safety net for who cannot pay.&#160; They have failed because the American people support these valuable programs so much that Republicans have to pretend to be supporting them at the same time they are trying to destroy them.&#160; Faced with another addition to America\u2019s safety net, Republicans sowed the wind.&#160; With lie after lie, they whipped up such fear of ObamaCare abound their rabid base they they felt sire they could stop it, while pretending to negotiate.&#160; But they failed.&#160; So they tried to prevent it\u2019s implementation, right up to shutting down the government.&#160; Now they have failed, again, but the fear they generated has taken on a life of its own.&#160; Now they are beginning to reap the whirlwind.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"12GOPsupport\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; float: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-left: auto; display: block; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; margin-right: auto\" border=\"0\" alt=\"12GOPsupport\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/12GOPsupport.jpg\" width=\"602\" height=\"345\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As the government shutdown enters its eleventh day and the nation races towards a possible default, <strong>a growing number of Republican lawmakers, leaders, and voters are publicly blaming Congressional Republicans for the budget impasse<\/strong>. Though they fault President Obama for failing to negotiate with Congress, as the public mood sours, some within the GOP are hurriedly distancing themselves from the mess in Washington. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s time for someone to act like a grown-up in this process,\u201d former New Hampshire Gov. John Sununu (R) told the Associated Press. Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder (R) agreed, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/blogs\/itsallpolitics\/2013\/10\/04\/229273304\/gop-governors-chart-different-paths-on-shutdown\" target=\"_blank\">remarking<\/a> on Monday that \u201cThis is not how we should operate. It shouldn\u2019t be about people fighting and yelling.\u2019 \u201cThe bottom line is <a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/health\/2013\/10\/10\/2765421\/arizona-medicaid-shutdown\/\" target=\"_blank\">we need that money in our economy<\/a> to save rural hospitals and jobs in the rural areas,\u201d Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer (R) told the Arizona Daily Star on Thursday, criticizing the GOP\u2019e effort to defund the Affordable Care Act. <\/p>\n<p>The criticism comes as an Associated Press-GfK <a href=\"http:\/\/m.apnews.com\/ap\/db_268798\/contentdetail.htm?contentguid=o0u0tj3Q\">poll<\/a> released Wednesday showed that \u201c<strong>three-quarters of Republicans nationally said their party in Congress deserves a moderate degree or most of the blame for the shutdown<\/strong>\u201d and a NBC\/Wall Street Journal survey reported that just <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/nation\/politics\/politicsnow\/la-pn-nbc-wsj-poll-republican-shutdown-20131011,0,6584107,full.story\">24 percent<\/a> of Americans now have a favorable view of Republicans \u2014 the lowest figure in the poll\u2019s history. Seventy percent of Americans say Republicans are putting politics ahead of the national interest and have an increasingly dim view of Tea Party backed Sens.
