{"id":11258,"date":"2013-10-01T00:35:12","date_gmt":"2013-10-01T07:35:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=11258"},"modified":"2013-10-01T01:50:55","modified_gmt":"2013-10-01T08:50:55","slug":"doj-sues-mccrorystan-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2013\/10\/01\/doj-sues-mccrorystan-today\/","title":{"rendered":"DOJ Sues McCrorystan Today!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">I&rsquo;m pleased to announce that the DOJ is finally filing a suit against the The Totalitarian Fascist Plutocracy of McCrorystan, led by TEAfuhrer Pat McCrory, for attempting to return what used to be North Carolina to the days of Jim Crow and beyond.&nbsp; It&rsquo;s about time!<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"McCrorystanFlag\" height=\"378\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/McCrorystanFlag.jpg\" style=\"float: none; margin-left: auto; display: block; margin-right: auto\" title=\"McCrorystanFlag\" width=\"650\" \/><\/font><\/p>\n<p>The Justice Department is expected to sue North Carolina on Monday over its restrictive new voting law, further escalating the Obama administration&rsquo;s efforts to restore a stronger federal role in protecting minority voters after the Supreme Court struck down part of the Voting Rights Act, according to a person familiar with the department&rsquo;s plans.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit, which had been anticipated, will ask a federal court to <strong>block North Carolina from enforcing four disputed provisions of its voting law<\/strong>, including a strict photo identification requirement. The lawsuit will also seek to <strong>reimpose a requirement that North Carolina obtain &ldquo;preclearance&rdquo; from the federal government<\/strong> before making changes to its election rules.<\/p>\n<p>The court challenge will join similar efforts by the Justice Department&rsquo;s Civil Rights Division in Texas over that state&rsquo;s redistricting plan and voter photo ID law.
