Today\u2019s honoree is Ted Cruz (R-TX), for his absurd statement on shutting down the federal government, in addition to being a master of TEAbuggery.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"6CruzControl!\" style=\"float: left; display: inline\" alt=\"6CruzControl!\" align=\"left\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/6CruzControl.jpg\" width=\"360\" height=\"300\" \/>Tea Party members of Congress like Sen. Ted Cruz are threatening to shut down the federal government in an effort to defund health care reform while, simultaneously, attempting to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rawstory.com\/rs\/2013\/07\/30\/ted-cruz-why-is-president-obama-threatening-to-shut-down-the-federal-government\/\" target=\"_blank\">place the blame<\/a> for any such shut down on President Obama.<\/p>\n<p>Obviously, pulling that off successfully will require the creation of some pretty ingenious arguments, one of which Cruz tried out last week when he was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=acL1OKrkkbg\" target=\"_blank\">interviewed on Newsmax TV<\/a> where he asserted that the term &quot;shut down is a misnomer; what it in fact is is a partial, temporary shut down&quot; where &quot;nonessential government functions are temporarily suspended\u2026<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Inserted from &lt;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rightwingwatch.org\/content\/cruz-government-shut-down-no-big-deal-because-it-happens-every-weekend\" target=\"_blank\">Right Wing Watch<\/a>&gt;<\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Here\u2019s the video:<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" height=\"360\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/YojKugFDzNk?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"640\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Republicans cannot disclaim this fascist. After all, he&#8217;s one of their Senators. As for his veracity about the effects of a shutdown, even Republican <a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/economy\/2013\/08\/05\/2410791\/republican-governors-warn-of-the-cost-of-shutting-down-the-government\/\" target=\"_blank\">Governors are begging House Republicans not to shut it down<\/a>. There&#8217;s a word for it. Bulls love to do it.
