{"id":10579,"date":"2013-07-07T01:05:59","date_gmt":"2013-07-07T08:05:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=10579"},"modified":"2013-07-07T01:05:59","modified_gmt":"2013-07-07T08:05:59","slug":"dont-fund-evil","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2013\/07\/07\/dont-fund-evil\/","title":{"rendered":"Don&#8217;t Fund Evil"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Almost fifteen years ago, I set my home page and have left it there ever since.&#160; I\u2019m completely used to it.&#160; I took the <em>Bing Challenge<\/em> and Bing lost.&#160; It wasn\u2019t even close.&#160; So for me to change my home page to anything but Google, would have required something very important.&#160; I changed my home page this morning.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"7Google\" style=\"float: left; display: inline\" alt=\"7Google\" align=\"left\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/7Google.jpg\" width=\"360\" height=\"360\" \/>Google\u2019s motto is \u201cDon\u2019t Be Evil,\u201d but it is supporting one of the worst deniers of climate science in the world: Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK). On July 11, Google is hosting a lunchtime <a href=\"http:\/\/politicalpartytime.org\/party\/34741\/\" target=\"_blank\">$250-$2500 a plate fundraiser<\/a> for Inhofe with the National Republican Senatorial Committee at its Washington, DC headquarters at 1101 New York Ave NW.<\/p>\n<p>The Washington Post also recently revealed that Google was the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/blogs\/the-fix\/wp\/2013\/06\/20\/anatomy-of-a-washington-dinner-who-funds-the-competitive-enterprise-institute\/\" target=\"_blank\">biggest single donor<\/a> to the Competitive Enterprise Institute\u2019s annual dinner on Thursday, June 20, dropping $50,000 in support of this anti-science group. The dinner was headlined by radical global warming denier Sen. Rand Paul. CEI\u2019s other donors include a who\u2019s who of polluters: American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity, Altria (Phillip Morris), Koch Companies, and Koch\u2019s Americans For Prosperity. CEI is famed for its ad promoting carbon dioxide emissions: \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/templates\/story\/story.php?storyId=5425355\" target=\"_blank\">They call it pollution. We call it life<\/a>.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.inhofe.senate.gov\/epw-archive\/press\/bsen-inhofe-delivers-major-speech-on-the-science-of-climate-change\/b-icatastrophic-global-warming-alarmism-not-based-on-objective-sciencei-ipart-2\/i\" target=\"_blank\">CO2 does not cause catastrophic disasters<\/a>,\u201d Sen. Inhofe claimed in 2003, the first time of many he call global warming a \u201choax\u201d on the Senate floor. \u201cActually, it would be beneficial to our environment and the economy.\u201d\u2026<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Inserted from &lt;<a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/climate\/2013\/07\/05\/2257691\/is-google-funding-climate-science-denial-jim-inhofe-fundraiser-planned-for-july-11\/\" target=\"_blank\">Think Progress<\/a>&gt;<\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">The news has been so dominated by Egypt and the Republican War on Women, that finding recent video on climate change proved difficult.&#160; I did, however, find a rare occurrence in which Cenk Uygur, on balance, actually supports Obama.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" height=\"360\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wBWycI8h1AI?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"640\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Uygur may be right about Obama approving the pipeline, but I can&#8217;t tell you how many times pundits have wiped egg from their faces after accusing Obama of things that he hasn&#8217;t done yet.
