{"id":10124,"date":"2013-03-13T04:07:17","date_gmt":"2013-03-13T11:07:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=10124"},"modified":"2013-03-13T04:07:17","modified_gmt":"2013-03-13T11:07:17","slug":"america-91-gop-0","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2013\/03\/13\/america-91-gop-0\/","title":{"rendered":"America 91 &#8211; GOP 0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">It is highly unusual for 91% of Americans to favor anything, but when we do, one might think that political support for such things would be nearly universal.&#160; But that does not take into account today\u2019s Republican Party, that continues to goose-step in lock step behind Wayne LaPierre and the gun industry.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: left; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"13LaPierre\" border=\"0\" alt=\"13LaPierre\" align=\"left\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/13LaPierre.jpg\" width=\"360\" height=\"205\" \/>A Senate committee approved legislation on Tuesday that would expand background checks covering all U.S. firearms sales, part of a federal gun-control push prompted by December&#8217;s school massacre in Connecticut.<\/p>\n<p>The Judiciary Committee decision by <strong>a party-line vote of 10-8<\/strong> cleared the way for the Democratic-crafted background check measure to be debated and put to a vote in the full Senate.<\/p>\n<p>Less clear is the fate of a proposed ban on military assault rifles proposed by Sen. Dianne Feinstein, a California Democrat.
