The group tracked over 300 project announcements across multiple sectors and in every region of the country.<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in; font-family: \"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">A few of the noteworthy 2012 trends in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.e2.org\/ext\/doc\/E2CleanEnergy2012YearEndandQ4.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">E2\u2032s report<\/a><font color=\"#0066cc\"><\/font> include:<\/font><\/p>\n<ul style=\"line-height: normal; margin-top: 0in; padding-left: 0px; unicode-bidi: embed; direction: ltr; margin-bottom: 0in; margin-left: 0.375in\" type=\"disc\">\n<li style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; vertical-align: middle\"><span style=\"font-family: \"><strong><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Public transportation drove clean job growth nationwide<\/font><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-family: \"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">, clocking in at over 43,000 jobs over the course of the year. Power generation, most of which came from solar, wind, and geothermal, came in second with more than 30,000 jobs.<\/font><\/span> <\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; vertical-align: middle\"><span style=\"font-family: \"><strong><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Solar power was a strong and steady job creator throughout the year<\/font><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-family: \"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">, and especially in the fourth quarter, providing over 19,000 jobs between the manufacturing and power generation sectors.<\/font><\/span> <\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; vertical-align: middle\"><span style=\"font-family: \"><strong><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Investment in energy efficiency hit a record high<\/font><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-family: \"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\"> of $5.6 billion in 2012, according to E2\u2032s analysis of government data, thanks to the announcement of as many as 9,000 new jobs.<\/font><\/span> <\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; vertical-align: middle\"><span style=\"font-family: \"><strong><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Uncertainty over the production tax credit hit wind energy<\/font><\/strong><\/span><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-family: \">, leading to a decline in job creation announcements in the fourth quarter, even as capacity installation <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/climate\/2013\/02\/11\/1574101\/global-wind-capacity-increased-almost-20-in-2012-to-282-gigawatts\/\" target=\"_blank\">ramped up<\/a><span style=\"font-family: \"><font color=\"#0066cc\"><\/font><\/span><\/font><span style=\"font-family: \"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\"> at the end of the year to get in under the anticipated expiration.
