It’s a yucky Busy day here in the CatBox.  All that dye I had to drink for the CAT Scan gave me a severe case of Republicosis, and I spent half the night or more on the throne.  Nerveless, the pizza was so fine and I’m having more.  WWWendy will be here soon.  Have a great weekend.

  1. Sorry to hear about the dye side-effect – but glad you enjoyed your pizza!

Like quite a few folks, I actually like leftover cold pizza straight out of the fridge!  Well, unless it happens to be a deep dish pizza from Gino’s East, Uno’s or Due’s in Chicago (not that there ever is any leftover deep dish pizza).

  2. Cartoon: All over the place.
TVU: Still the same as the day before.
    BFTP: Love this song.
Bummer about your drink going right through you like that…go back to bed, rest, and nap. Take good, good care, and Thanks, Tom.

    6. “Donald Trump genuinely seems to believe voters should see him as an expert on wind power. And that’s a shame, because he seems to have no idea what he’s talking about.” ~ Rachel Maddow ~

    • TJI #2 – “Too much blood thinner” has been suggested (my first thought was hemophilia but that’s impossible and apparently doesn’t look like that anyway.) It certainly looks and sounds serious.
      TJI #3 – LOL!
TJI #^ – Rachel is kinder than I – nothing new there, I suppose.

    • TJI#3: And he’s got the face for it.
TJI#6: But he IS an expert on wind power, as in all that hot air emanating from the vacuole in his face!

    • #2:

“… Disease in the Turtle but did discover that Chinese soft shelled turtles pee through their mouths.”

At long last – we have finally located an honest-to-goodness “POTTY MOUTH!”

For what it’s worth WRT McConnell’s significant bruising – here’s my best medical evaluation (and I believe it’s pretty accurate):

He most likely has Atrial Fibrillation (A-Fib – a common cardiac condition: I have it), and given his age he meets the criteria for a blood thinner.  The anticoagulant [blood thinner] of choice is a NOAC – Novel Oral Anticoagulant – like Eliquis or Xarelto.  (Familiar to those who watch the TV ads aimed at us seniors.)

He then most likely took a face-plant fall injuring his hands, lips and left side of the bridge of his nose (that one is pretty subtle – but clearly present).

Given his “gravitas” as Senate Majority Leader and age, he was taken to a hospital to be evaluated.

Also given his age, he undoubtedly has very friable veins, which makes phlebotomy (blood drawing) very difficult.  That accounts for the multiple band-aids on his hands.  (Although the one on his right thumb is a head-scratcher: I’ve seen IVs started on the dorsal penile vein of male preemies [any port in a storm] – but I’ve never seen anyone draw from the thumb.)

I would estimate that this is a relatively new bruise, but not entirely fresh bruising.

Bruises progress through a series of color changes that are critical from a pediatric standpoint WRT assessing when a suspected child abuse occurred:

They start red because fresh, oxygen-rich blood has newly pooled underneath the skin.

After around 1–2 days, the blood begins to lose oxygen and change color: A few days old bruise will appear blue or purple.

In about 5–10 days, it turns a yellow or green color. These colors come from compounds called biliverdin and bilirubin that the body produces when it breaks down hemoglobin.

After 10–14 days, it will turn to a shade of yellowish-brown or light brown.

Summary: McConnell is probably on a blood thinner; fell; went to ER; problem drawing blood; battered and bruised.

But I don’t see ANYTHING medically ominous.  Pretty common scenario for us oldsters.

      • I believe biliverdin is presumed to be the culprit in  the case of the little green puppy born in Italy (and named Pistachio).  You can straighten me out if that’s wrong.

  3. So sorry about your side effect. A case of do or dye? (Or more like dye and do?)  Glad the scan was not otherwise incapacitating. Love to WWWendy.

Cartoon – They do have plenty of that. (At least usually – though I don’t know, Keith yesterday ….)

    TVU – I guess I’m surprised it isn’t worse.

This story is from the UK, not the US – but don’t we all know there are US Postal workers who would step up like this? Support the Postal Service!

I missed a lot of 60’s and 70’s music, but I would have had to be comatose or worse to have missed that one. Lovely and iconic.

  4. Glad you could face your good pizza again despite the challenge TC.  The W.H.O. recently said 5% or less on positive testing rate as a goal to achieve.  CA is mostly staying low–Los Angeles is having die ins and memorial vigils as part of a push to have community groups to help monitor businesses’ compliance with health mandates.

  5. Love the cartoon – call it GOPOOP!

No telling how someone will react to certain substances. Our metabolisms are all subtly different, and though we are all warmed by the same sun and chilled by the same winter, one person’s harmless dye is another person’s poison.

I have already voted – blue top to bottom. Biden, Ossoff (for Senator in GA to get rid of David Per-pew), and of course Dems in state and local races. Fortunately I have a great Democrat rep in the state legislature.

  6. Pizza good!  Side effects not good! Pizza good…………
Elephant good!  GOP not good  Elephant good…………GOP go away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TVU puts the lie to not good Piece Of Trash Unsavory Slimebag
    BFP: Croce good!

  7. Well, TC….if I were in the throes of the ”dye dumps”….I know who I’d imagine was in the bowl!  Heh, heh, heh.
Hang in….pizza’s health food, isn’t it?

  8. Cartoon: Yep, sure seems to be lot of that around. Hopefully after Nov.3 we’ll see less?
TVU: Had another 430 new cases yesterday, which brings us up to 53,928. 1 new death making 867. tRump keeps saying our country is turning around…hate to tell him it make a U turn and it’s spreading at a faster speed.
    BFTP: Great tune.
Sorry to hear that the dye make you so sick. Hopefully you were able to get some relief.
Have a good visit with Wendy. Tell her “hi”.
    Take care. Thanks TomCat

  9. Sorry about the Republicosis, but the pizza may have made it all worthwhile, TomCat.

2:56 Weird clock-face, made from bathroom tiles?

Cartoon: You’ll have to watch your step until after November 3.

TVU: The worst of it is that so many states don’t seem to have (reliable?) infection rates. It’s a mess.

BFTP: Such a beautiful song, it always makes me melancholy with the knowledge that Jim Croce didn’t get very much time to capture time in a bottle.

  10. Thanks and Republicosis Hugs to all! 29
